awesome sushi experience – i love the ambiance at Takashi! delicious sauces, such a wide variety of flavors. elegant and friendly. one of my favorite destinations downtown for sushi.
Good Sushi – Great sushi, very fresh. One of the few places in Utah to offer Toro.
Sadly, the wait staff we had was very snobbish and rude.
Great atmosphere – Stunning atmosphere, decent sushi, excellent drink list! The service was world class and I felt like the atmosphere was worth the steep pricing.
Good atmosphere - interesting rolls – Make reservations or get there early or late...."rush hour" is a LONG wait.
They have some interesting rolls - such as one with Strawberries that is very good as is the summit roll.
I eat out about 6x a week and about 2x/week for sushi - I would say Takashi is top 3 places in SLC area.
No happy hour or discounts - but really that is about the only downside to this place.
The atmosphere is great - especially on warm evenings when they open the shutters and you almost feel like you are setting outside.
TWO THINGS they could do to improve this place - have a larger area so wait is not as long and NEED TO OPEN ON SUNDAYS!!!!!!
Service is consistently pretty good - when they are busy...well it lacks a little but that is to be expected.
Parking can be a bit tough with current construction but it's worth a block walk to eat the food here.
For high quality, fresh Sushi - this is the place in SLC – You may not find a parking space close by, but if you are serious about eating fresh, high-quality Sushi that will guarantee to please, this is the place. I recommend the Ceviche roll as well as the Easy Rider. I've only tried about seven menu items but everything I've eaten at Takashi is fantasitc.
Enjoy and get there early on Friday and Saturday night.
Best Sushi – i really love this place. they've got the best sushi ever, the staff are really so nice and friendly, the atmosphere's great, and the price's real good. def, worth it. JT Bramlette
Great food, awful service. – Earlier this week, I went in for dinner right when they opened. I wanted to get there early to avoid a crazy crowd. Food was great- of what I recieved, that is. Server forgot half of the order and had an AWFUL attitude the entire time. I, too, am a waitress. It's not what I would call a dream job, but I am smart enough not to approach a table with the attitude that I hate my job, hate my life, and don't give a flying f about the customers... this girl, not so smart. It wasn't busy, so she can't ride on that excuse. And my friend and I never once inquired as to why our sushi was taking an hour and a half, giving the girl the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was new, maybe they were working on the world's biggest to-go order, and when the food finally arrived, she slammed it on the table as though we were a pain in her, well, you know. Never checked back to see how it was, never asked if we would like to order anything else. Generally, I leave a 30% tip for great service, 20% for not-so-great... this girl wins the award for my first EVER 8% tip, which was still about 7.5% too much. The sushi was fantastic, but sadly, I will not be returning. Service is everything, and Takashi seriously lacks it. Get it together and put a smile on your face, even if you are faking it. And as a side note, I saw a gentlemen who was also sitting in this girl's section approach the sushi bar, ask if the platter which had been sitting there for God knows how long was his, and take it himself to his table. Not acceptable. Since I only got half of my order and was still starving, I went to Ichiban. Had a wonderful server, wonderful sashimi, and I was even lucky enough for this server to refill my water and offer another beer when I had finished mine! What a concept...
Wonderful! – I'm usually not the most adventurous sushi eater but the Takashi kitchen puts their incredibly inventive rolls together in such a way that no matter what you order and no matter how outlandish the combinations seem, it's all delicious. My only complaint it that it's such a scene it's hard to get a table, and so noisy you can't converse after you get one. But there's a good reason people put up with that -- the sushi.
