Tips for Eggs In The City

WOW. I have always come back to this cute little neighborhood restaurant time and time again and they never disappoint. The owner who does it all (host, serves, and busses tables) still manages to find time to walk and talk to every table in the building giving each dine in experience a personal touch. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and I must give a small shout out to our waiter who not only kept my coffee cup full the entire time we were there but was pretty darn cute too.

We did have to wait about 20 minutes for our food but it was well worth the wait. I ordered the eggs "Benny" (Benedict) and i have never tasted such a savory Hollandaise sauce. It just so happened to be the girlfriends birthday that i was with and just with one mention of that around our server we were given complimentary Cheese Blintz which were incredible and the presentation of them was stunning, almost made me not want to eat it! But one bite in and those crepes did not stand a chance.

Eggs in the City is a must for those seeking a nice brunch and great service!

Just don't be late...or else.. Called at 1:15 on a Sunday afternoon and inquired about the hours. I was told, "We seat our last table at 1:50."

Fine. My wife and I arrive at 1:45 and are given the WORST ATTITUDE ever! Our waitress (a disgusting trailer trash-type woman who's muffin top/miniskirt combo left too little to the imagination) said to us, "Well I THOUGHT we were closed, but I GUESS [emphasis added] I was wrong," and stomped off. When she came back she said we had "one minute" to look at our menu's and then would HAVE to order.

She came back a minute later, took our order and that was the last we saw of her.

Even though the amigos made a wicked good burrito, it'll be a cold day in hell before we go back.

A delicious, fun experience. We have been to Eggs in the City many times, and every time we go, we're absolutely blown away by the food (try the huevos rancheros!). There is also a fantastic atmosphere, and the staff are friendly, attentive and cool. Eggs in the City has a unique flair and personality (the food, staff and decor).

The last time we visited we were doubly impressed. My sister in law had ordered a wrap, but noticed there was blue cheese on it once it arrived. She started picking it off the wrap. One of the staff noticed and came right over. He said they would make her a new wrap, which they did, and they boxed the other one up for the rest of us to eat later. This was on a very busy morning, and people were waiting to get tables, so you wouldn't expect to have such attentive service. We had lots of requests that morning, as we had a new baby at the table as well, and the staff were accommodating and gracious the entire time. And the food was to die for, as always!

Check it out, you'll love it!

I'm skepitcal about the previous complaints. I've been eating here for years, so I think my opinion is not trivial and unwarranted. I was a little surprised to see the recent complaints regarding poor food and/or poor service and the food being too expensive. Keep in mind that the kitchen is more than happy to add vegetables (tomatoes, sauteed onions, avocados, etc and I assume they also have meats such as bacon or sausage) to you burritos, omelets etc. Regarding the service... the managers, owner, hostess and the waiting staff have always been extremely conversational and go out of their way to make my breakfast enjoyable. If the waitress isn't coming to your table or if they remove something from the table that you wanted, just wave them down or talk to them when they pass by you. Its not rude to say, "Hey I was using that ketchup". I personally find it hard to believe that anyone could have any complaints on the side of the staff. Many times, from personal waiting experience, when the waitress/waiter seems to be rude to a table, it is frequently a response to a table that could possibly be overly critical and/or excessively demanding, or they may simply be busy, if that's the case, attempt to show a little patience. Finally regarding the price... yeah its very expensive if your are using McDonald's or Denny's as the subject of comparison. However if you consider this food is essentially homemade with fresh ingredients when you order it, I think the price is more than reasonable.

One reason I eat here is solely for the atmosphere, it is hypo-eccentric (hypo implies mildly), quite pleasantly unique indeed. Obviously the food is good in my opinion, but the friendly staff and the atmosphere is the main reason I return here a couple times a week.

Good Food Bad Service. Me and my girlfriends decided to stop by and Egg's and the City after over hearing some co-workers loving the food. When we got there the greet was very casual, kinda as if she was brushing us off. She was fast, which was okay. We waited about 20 mins before we got our food, the food was delicious by the way, but the service was not nearly as great. Our waiter would walk by our table about 4 or 5 times without saying anything. When she did come by the table, she grabbed the ketchup I was using without saying anything and never returned with it.. very strange. I didnt think waiters should remove ANYTHING from the table without the customers consent because situation like mine, I was USING that ketchup.. strange. On top of that, she never came and asked us how our meal was and if we needed anything. It was horrible. I had to ask the people next to us if I could borrow their ketchup since our waitress took ours. When we left, I had to grab my own to-go box.. luckily their supply was next to our table. I have never needed to serve myself at a restaurant like that. If the food wasnt delicious, I would've given Egg's and the City no stars at all.

Excellent, food ++, atmosphere ++ and service ++. Eggs in the City is a creatively envisioned and excellently executed casual dining experience! The menu has something for everyone, from luxurious Eggs Benedict to simple scrambles and REAL Corned Beef Hash!

If you are in Salt Lake and looking for somewhere to soak in some local ambiance and GREAT food Eggs in the City is NOT TO BE MISSED!

I would be remiss if I did not mention the charming owner, Heather. She welcomes you like family and clearly loves what she does. Her passion for fine food and great service are apparent in everything the do!

My Absolute Fav Breakfast Place. I love their breakfasts and the Mexican Chicken Salad for lunch. I've never had a bad meal here and I've tried a lot of their items. The service is really good. I just wish so many other people didn't like it as well, as the wait can be long at busy times! Neighborhood people walk over and leave the strollers and the dogs outside - a cozy atmosphere.

Terrible food but wonderful service.. The food was absolutely horrible. I got the eggd flourentine (which is my fav breakfast food) and my wife got the mama burrito. I was extremy disappointed in the food. Their hollandaise sauce didn't taste like any kind I've ever had. I, in all honesty, could have found trash from a garbage that tasted better. My wife's burrito was very bland and unappetizing. We will never be eating here again. The only saving grace was the service. Our waiter was perfect, handlebar mustache and all :) There was another young lady with a bunch of old school tattoos. She was extremely nice and very attentive even though we weren't her table. Kudos to those two. In closure, I will not be coming back and I wouldn't recommend Eggs In The City to my worst enemy.

Great service all the way around. eggs in the city is the best breakfast in town. The service is amazing, and i felt so welcomed by the owner and waitresses. it's not every day that you have such great service. i would reccomend this so anyone that likes to wake up on a saturday morning and eat a fulfilling breakfast. the bus boy that was wearing the highland high school attire was so great, and did a great job and was so nice. It's good to know that even the worker that doesn't associate with customers as much is also trained to be so nice to the customers. I ordered the meat lovers skillet. if you are a man, you need to try this out. it is scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, cheddar cheese, and sausage. i also was supplied with orange juice, which was always kept full. the service was great, even on a saturday when i went. i do warn you that the place is pretty busy on the weekends, but even with the hectic environment, the service is still great, and the employees handle it well. i will come back to eggs in the city, and i reccomend it as the best breakfast food in the valley
