I began going to Panache about six months ago. The food was wonderful, the wine selection diverse, and the crowd very limited. My girlfriends and I found it the perfect place to unwined every Thursday. About two months ago, the food, quality and quantity, began to decline and the wine selection left much to be desired. We have decided to find a new place for our weekly night out and the only thing we will miss will be the Great Vicki Martinez and Kassy. Our group consists of professional business women, very active in community and in women's issues in particular. I have never observed anywhere the mistreatment and disrespect of staff by management/ ownership. I would simply advise to support businesses with strong commitment to building client relations, respect of staff, and delivering superior services and products. If you want average this is the place to go. If you want more then try Bambara!

The pros: Interesting wines by the glass and the very astute Vicky Martinez heading the wine selections. She finds many overlooked but finely crafted wines that are a pleasure to drink. Food, when it's good, is very very good. Room is wonderful and convivial, with comfortable bar, cigar room and main area. It's obvious the owner Shauna has a keen eye for elegance and comfort. The cons: Don't get a favorite wine here that is only $22 per bottle---they'll consistently be out of it the next time you order. Food is an afterthought with a revolving door of chefs. I guess you get what you pay for. The cheese plate, for instance, went from a lush array of sumptuous bleus and nutty manchegos paired with perfectly ripened fruit for a very reasonable $9.95 (which easily served four of us with our glasses of wine) to the same sized plate and half the cheese (cheddars, a slender wafer of bleu, ho-hum) and tired apple slices (!) which was not worth the $11.95. Service is usually very good, and wait staff knows the wines well, but can get overwhelmed when busy. In addition, when I am paying my hard-earned coin on a meal or a nice glass of wine, I NEVER want to see or hear the owner chastising the help. It is inexcusable, a sign of poor management skills, and the mark of an idiot. It also marks the end of my patronage. My hope is that the wonderful Vicky Martinez finds a way to make this chic little wine bar succeed, but I fear she'll be better appreciated elsewhere, with cuisine that matches her finely tuned palate. If you want a quick glass of great wine after work, go here. If you want great food, head for Martine's or Bambara, both within striking distance.

Pros: Gorgeous adults only place with very reasonable prices on wines by the glass

Cons: prices keep going up, food quality keeps going into the basement
