40.521640 -111.895357 View WebsiteI was trying to decide between Revolution and another studio to put my daughters in. I decided to check for reviews and was shocked with what I found. After reading these reviews I will not be sending my girls here. There in nothing worse than an owner/director who won't listen to concerns or feedback. If anyone else has feedback I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
JW, I want to thank you for being bold
and brave enough to voice your concerns. So many of us are afraid to do the same, for the same reasons you've stated in your reviews below. I thank you for giving me a little encouragement to also voice my concerns.
In the past, Revolution has been a place of fun, a place we called a second home, a place that we gained a second family. This year has been extremely disappointing. Many of us, are too, trying to get through the season. Angie, owner, has done a great deal of pointing the finger in every direction except her own. She forgets that we, her clientele, are what keep her in business. So many, including myself, have come forward with repeated concerns, and yet, Angie, you brush it under the rug and then bash on those who are desperate to have a good experience.
Teams 4 & 6 are glorified, and it has become obvious why. You giving your daughters teams special treatment. Our dancers on the remaining teams have become the back end and forgotten. These remaining teams have been begging to get rehearsals with their choreographers, yet teams 4 & 6 have been the only ones who have gotten extensive rehearsals. This is not an attack on those dancers, nor your daughters on those specific teams, as they have no control on the scheduling process and they are doing what is told. You, along with a couple of your other instructors have blamed the dancers for incomplete dances. Yet, they do not get rehearsals, the choreographer isn’t prepared, or they sit around talking for most of the rehearsal getting nothing done. There have been so many hours wasted, and still you blame the dancers.
We pay a lot of money to come to, supposedly, one of the “best” studios in Utah. The Ballet instructors along with a couple of the other instructors are worth the money. However, one jazz instructor/director rarely teaches technique or always on vacation, the other jazz instructor/director plays a game “question of the day.” Taking up almost the entire class time. Even after your former Artistic Director brought it to your attention as well as the instructor, you have allowed “question of the day” to continue. I do not pay you hundreds of dollars, for my dancer to sit around talking about their favorite vacation place.
Costume fees are outrageous. I wouldn’t mind paying the money if I knew I was getting a $150 costume. However, you buy inexpensive (sometimes down right cheap) costumes and pocket the rest. It’s not difficult to see most of the costumes we receive are absolutely NOT worth the money we pay for them.
Several of us have approached you with our concerns, and instead of working together to resolve the issues, you throw it all over social networks, and complain to others how you’ve been attacked. So, I suspect I’ll see something on your facebook, or chat around the studio about how much of a victim you are. We have been hoping and waiting for things to change. It is obvious it will not. We will not be returning next season, and will also steer away anyone who is looking for a new studio.
Angie I will continue to voice my
concerns on Citysearch, as you cannot hear them in the studio. I do understand how the levels are set up and I think this is set up is a great way to give the dancers the best instruction possible. Both your former artistic directors have had great vision and been strong teachers and leaders. Not really sure how that pertains the issues I mentioned, but good explanation. I have recently seen a couple situations where parents have voiced concerns to you or another teacher and the instant poor treatment of their child has been appalling.
I can see how your “discussion” of my concerns has been addressed. You have nearly thrown them in the face of the families of the people of your studio. Yes, this is your studio, but you do not pay for it. There are 2 reasons I will continue to put my concerns here on Citysearch, 1- to warn anyone considering your studio away, and secondly I do not want to see my own child treated so badly. (For those wondering why I do not just leave, at the beginning of the year we signed a contract, and if we were to leave we would still be responsible for a great deal of fees. Also my dancer does not want to let the team down). Your new staffing arrangements show where your priorities lay, you show near contempt to someone who gives a great deal, actually cares about the girls and shows true support for the studio. The only thing she did not do was to be the “yes man” you wanted. Luckily you have found someone to do that. It is clear that you will do what you want regardless of the concerns brought to your attention. Your example as a leader for these children is questionable. You and a teacher went to a male strip show in Vegas while there for an event with the dancers (children). This is completely inappropriate and not the example I want set for my child. I have heard you gossiping about people that complain of lack of modesty, so I am sure you will do the same about this. So be it. This is a toxic environment; this is not a healthy, friendly place for children to feel safe. With the tragedies happening around the world, we do not need to send our children to a place where they will be treated as poorly as they will be here.
The father, who has had enough of the improper management of the studio and let you know earlier this week in a loud and clear way, may have used language a bit over the edge, but did you really listen to what he was saying. I truly hope you did not shut down and pull out your ever handy hypocrite card. People are not happy. We are just trying to make it through this season. Please see what is happening and try to bring some sort of order to this chaos so we can make it through to the end. Then we will be out of your way.
Ps. having gotten to know him better, and seeing real life situations and how he reacts and treats those not his favorites, I would like to rescind my previous statement of Matt being delightful and optimistic and bringing a great new energy. I was very mistaken. As Matt says it is his job to stop unnecessary drama at the studio, but I have never seen more drama than there is now, and it is getting worse all the time.
My name is Matt Delly, I am a director here at Revolution Dance Studio. The rude comment that was made was obviously an unhappy parent because she wanted her daughter to be placed at a higher level than she should've been, so she left the studio and decided to be catty and highly unprofessional and leave a disrespectful comment. My job as director is to stop this unnecessary drama. We have an amazing program for our girls, BOTH company and recreational. WE as directors decide whom should be placed on what team by the talent and passion they execute. We are upfront and honest with our students and families. Come and observe for yourself. Trust me, if it was an "uncomfortable" setting,.I wouldn't be dedicating the majority of my time here. P.S. we have a well dynamic staff here and the kids are truly blessed to be training with them. I myself am blessed with the opportunity to train such beautiful dancers and have colleagues like the ones I encounter daily.
In response to JW I feel that revolution is an amazing studio. I have studio hopped and this is the only place that I felt was an at home atmosphere. I not only got great technique classes but during some trying times they were there emotionally. I never recall the owner telling her teachers to put her daughters up front, I even herd that she fired her daughter because of not being the kind of teacher she wanted at the studio. Where else in Utah can you get the quality of teachers that they have at revolution. If you do not believe me go to their web site and read their bios.
Best technique locally!. This is a great dance studio if you are looking for qualified teachers, great attitude, amazing choreography and superb technique. You get the technique taught at the larger, more expensive studios and the one on one attention that you would receive at a smaller studio. It is the best of both worlds!
