The Scene – A homey vibe and quiet atmosphere make this cozy coffeehouse a favorite with neighborhood regulars and students. Wood floors, earth-toned walls, dark wood furniture and inviting chairs in front of a fireplace lend the feel of a comfortable bungalow living room. A large counter and display case filled with goodies carve out one corner of the room. Service is friendly and prompt: Place your order at the register, choose a table and your food will be delivered to you. – – The Food – Tempting house-made pastries--scones, turnovers, Napoleons, croissants and…

This is one of the coolest cafes in SLC. Low key, they usually play excellent music (jazz etc), the views & light are excellent. Unfortunately, the service is not one of the best; the food invariably takes forever to make. It takes at least half an hour to warm up a croissant so I never have more than a coffee. Too bad, actually.

I wait all summer long for the fall and winter to come so that it is cool enough to get a cup of drinking chocolate from Cocoa Cafe. It is an ideal setting for a little visit with a friend. Casual atmosphere and always interesting people around. I have only had wonderful experiences there. I am not high maintenance customer. I have never had them not have something I wanted to order, but for the other reviewers who were dissatisfied with missing ingredients, out of stock, etc. That is the compromise. You get a choice 1) If you want all the options and no imperfections, go to some global chain or 2) If you want to support local business and experience local life, go to a local cafe. I choose #2 and I like Cocoa Cafe a lot.
- Pros: cozy atmosphere, friendly, casual
