I came in after another local salon butchered my hair… I have to mention that I am EXTREMELY hard to please when it comes to getting my hair done. My first impression, the atmosphere of this place, it blew me away, its open, Clean! Fresh, Clean!!. Immediately I felt comfortable and relaxed. My appt. was with Michael Kappinos, the salon owner.
I have been to many salons around the Salt lake valley and most were not worth the money!!! Michael did a wonderful consultation, he talk to me about my hair texture; face shape and colors. I had the best experience, and afterwards felt so beautiful and satisfied, I have continued to go to this salon and have recommended it to my closest friends, the prices are very reasonable, and I will never go anywhere else.
I made an appointment with MERANDA and she was FANTASTIC! I've had horrible drama with my hair over the past year and she not only fixed all of that she restored my self confidence with the cut and style she gave me. She is wonderful! The salon environmet was professional and relaxing, I really enjoyed my visit. She took her time and the price was very affordable! I can't wait to go back for my trim! A big thank you to MERANDA she's fabulous!
Michael saved my hair!!!
Before the start of teaching a new school year, I took a magazine photo to a hairdresser and asked for the exact cut and color (blonde) of the girl in the photo. That did not happen! The cut was fine but my hair was totally orange. A few days later, she attempted to fix it and turned it yellow instead. I was pretty frustrated and luckily found Michael.
Michael is the owner of the Roxy Carmichaels Salon in Sugar House. I explained to him what had happened to my hair and showed him the photo of the color that I had wanted. He said that he could correct the colors in my hair, but that it would take several, very careful hours to fix it. He was very understanding of the fact that I wanted my hair to be fixed before my Back-to-School Night with my new students and their families (which was just a few days later that week). He was so understanding that he came to the salon on his day off and opened the salon just to fix my hair. It really did take over 3 hours as he meticulously foiled (and even double-foiled) tons of strands of hair. He was able to correct EVERY single orange and yellow strand and the end result was the prettiest blonde I have ever had.
After the color correction, he even spent extra time giving me tips on how to style my hair.
Michael really is an exceptional stylist and I would recommend him to anyone!!
I have natural curly hair and my hair has always looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket! I went to Roxy Carmichaels Salon. Meranda was my stylist. This is the BEST hair cut I have ever had! She took so much time to teach me how to hot iron my hair. I LOVE my hair. I love the deep scalp treatment. I love this salon!!!!
i got myself a groupon for a deep condition, wash and cut with blowdry. god i wish i never let MERANDA cut my hair. I had a photo. I have thick hair. she didn't cut it like the photo.. and she decided to thin out my hair. i like for a hairstylist to let me know what they are doing and if I agree with it. it's been nearly 2 weeks, and my hair looks dreadful.
i mean, i found this neat hairstyle that i wanted that would look GREAT for my hair.. but she didn't even acknowledge that at all. AND she nearly ripped out my hair flat ironing it. i hate the look, i looked like i was suffering from some serious static electricity. my 10 and 8 year old nieces let me know it was a bad hair cut.
i have no reason to go back to this salon. i wish i would have received the groupon for Gaby .. or at least someone that doesn't disregard anything their client says. i let her know i didn't like it when stylists thin my hair, and she presumed to do it.. she just cut like crazy, and used the excuse that "your hair will flip out easier." (i dont like my hair to flip, i don't like that look. i've never liked the "utah" look.) and that she was cleaning up hair that was about to break. BULLSHIT.
I've learned, a deal like that was WAY too good to be true, I just wish I had said no to the haircut.
I made an appointment with Meranda three weeks in advance and when I came to my appointment and let her know I was here she had me wait 45 minutes before rudely letting me know she had cancelled my appointment. Then when I asked her why she cancelled and why she did not let me know she just said " that's besides the point when do you want to reschedule". She was very inconsiderate and when I left I was very upset. I considered speaking with the owner and my boyfriend saw how upset I was and went back and spoke to them but after reading other reviews I noticed they do not really care how the employees treat the customers.
I'm just trying to make sense of it all.... – Ya the headline's a bit melodramatic, I know, but really that's what I'm trying to do. My wife spent $675 on hair extensions (that includes a $100 tip). Ok-Ok fine, if she's happy, I'm happy. But if I spent that much on hair it better had shoot fire or give me some telepathic powers; at the very least that hair better stay attached. Well it didn't do any of those three things, but the very last thing is what set me off. The first weave started unraveling that night and by the next day two more started coming undone. The hairdresser was out of town and wouldn't be able to fix it for a while. My wife works in the ER at IMC and hair falling out of your head is a liability. Picture her doing CPR and pausing every couple compressions to pick up lengths of hair. I literally went and bought a needle and thread and took a few hours sewing it in myself. I don't know what I'm doing though; when my wife's gone I send my little girl to school in a hat. My efforts were in vain anyway. When she finally washed it, it all went to hell. There was no coming back from it. I definitely wasn't going to pay more to have someone else fix it. We eventually threw in the towel and I pulled them out. It took time to get my knots out but the other pieces just unwound and came out without much of a fight. I wrote a complaint about it to the Salon and I was promptly written back. I spoke to the owner over the phone and he was apologetic but made it clear that he didn't do refunds. He wanted me to work it out with the stylist. I talked to her, she was cool, it was cordial but before I could try and negotiate some money back she made it clear that she didn't do refunds. I wasn't even gonna ask for more than a fraction back. I didn't want her to absorb all the cost. In the end we just settled on a free styling or something of that nature, my wife didn't want it. I guess they have our money, we have a pile of hair and this site to give our story on. I wish the owner would have realized it's his salon and made more of an effort to amend the situation. I've never given a bad review online. If I don't like a place I just don't go back. But for nearly $700, I gotta say something. After all was said and done we paid more money to get the beads removed and for a deep conditioning. Then my wife got a nice looking haircut from Great Clips........how's that for irony?
