Editorial Review for Thaifoon – by Eugenie Hero Jaffe
The Scene
Dramatic lighting, cozy booths, bamboo plants and a waterfall create a sense of calm and help mask the bustle of this popular restaurant. Well-meaning but overzealous waiters hover, sometimes rushing the experience and interrupting the vibe.
The Food
While not traditionally Thai, dishes are appealing and include many Asian staples: chicken satay, coconut shrimp, spring rolls and dumplings. Seared ahi tuna starter is dusted with Cajun spices, and when combined with fresh ginger and soy-mustard sauce, is perfectly zingy. Salads with papaya, shrimp and wontons are large enough for two. Skip pepper steak and filet mignon and try lightly breaded scallops, stir-fried in citrus soy sauce with mild chilies, mangos and scallions. Evil Jungle Princess, a house specialty, is a bright and spicy mix of vegetables and chicken in peanuty red curry sauce. Pad thai with plump shrimp, chicken and bean sprouts is sweet and tangy.

My favorite thing about this place is that they use filet mignon steak in their beef dishes. At all other asain places I've tried, the beef is weird and chewy. Everything at this place is really high quality. My favorites are the Evil Jungle Pricess beef and Mongolian beef. Excellent flavors, great service, and wonderful atmosphere.
Pros: High quality food, atmosphere, service
Cons: can get crowded

Busy, but with a good staff, and good food. I enjoyed a vegan pad thai there, and felt very comfortable, though I'm sure we looked very out of place, with studded jackets, goofy hair and too many piercings. It's not my favorite restaurant, but it is yummy and it's always nice to find vegan and vegitarian options at restaurants, though that is typical of asian cooking. It's pricey, but worth it if you're in the mood.
