whoooaah, this place has that southern charm!. I had such a great time here ,,great food with some of the best live jazz ive heard in a while. The staff was soooo friendly, im going back for the crawfish next time.
Bayou's Kidney Beans and Rice. Well I was generally appalled at what happened to me. I went in on date. Everyone raves about this place so I finally went. I ordered the red beans and rice for the gods awful price of 11.99. I got the gumbo, which I did enjoy. That is the TWO star part. When my entree came... I was shocked, beyond belief, revolted. The chefs had tried to pass KIDNEY beans off as red beans! I couldn't believe my eyes. Completely different, not even the same dish, flavor or concept. Sure they made it LOOK like it. They added some of the same ingredients, but I immediately knew I was being played a fool. This Cajun place trying to pass of a dish that wasn't even Cajun. I couldn't even finish it, the taste was so awkward and strange with the kidney beans. I am a Cajun, I grew up in the south, my family is from New Orleans, they live there now! Such a high price for a food that is cheap in my area of the world. I am sorely disappointed at this what was deemed a very popular dish among the masses (who don't know any better) at my native food.…
Go! NOW!.
I love this place! If you are a beer lover it is a must. If you are not a beer lover it is still a must.
Try to get Yolanda as your bar tender. She rocked my world. She is very knowledgeable about the beer selection (which can seem overwhelming). You would think she has tried all the beers (and that is a possibility).
Don't skip the sweet potato fries (why would you), they are worth it!…
Long Wait, Extremely Noisy,.
The Bayou is overhyped and as such you have to deal with a long wait every time you walk in the door. Went on a Friday evening at 5:30pm with some girlfriends and waited for an hour and 45 minutes!
Not sure why we didn't leave, maybe it's because parking was such a pain and we didn't want to have to move our cars and drive elsewhere. Anyhoo, the Bayou is extremely loud, so you have to yell to talk to each other. The servers are hit and miss. Most are pretty snotty and curt with you. The food is actually pretty good. We liked all the dishes we had. I wouldn't go back though, unless there happens to be an off time when they're not busy. Then maybe you could sit and relax, have a conversation and they would have all their beer in stock.
Wouldn't recommend for a night out!…
