Editorial Review for Grill Room at Sky Bar – by Helen Hodgson
The Scene
High above the city, expansive windows and subdued lighting accentuate the cityscape. An air of quiet elegance makes this a place where diners come for a special evening out. Attentive but unobtrusive service is ideal for those who relish quiet, uninterrupted conversation.
The Food
Seafood dominates the appetizers, from chilled peel-and-eat shrimp to crab cakes and smoked salmon. Lobster over fettuccini in a fresh tomato-basil cream sauce; macadamia-crusted halibut; and roasted chicken accented with lemon-thyme glace are among the lighter entrees. Richer selections include twin filets topped with lump crabmeat and Grill Room sauce; chicken sauteed with mushrooms and Southern Comfort in cream sauce; and veal Marsala. Each entree is served with twice-baked or garlic mashed potatoes or herbed rice, as well as an inviting medley of fresh vegetables. Chocolate souffle and fresh fruit cobbler are the signature desserts, and one is big enough to share.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasThe intermezzo is a palate cleanser (served before the entree), possibly gooseberry sorbet with a splash of champagne.
What to DrinkTry Spanish coffee made with Tia Maria and topped with Kahlua whipped cream, or Irish coffee with a drizzle of Bailey's Irish Cream. Even the plain black coffee is exceptional.
Know Before You GoBoth chocolate souffle and fruit cobbler take at least 20 minutes; order them along with your entree to avoid delay.

The night started off badly. It took about 30 minutes to get seated because when I called to make a reservation, they told me it probably wasn't necessary and we should be able to just come in and be seated. They finally told us just to go scope out a table when someone was leaving and take it. The food was o.k., but not nearly worth the $80+ bill that we rang up for 2 people having dinner and two drinks a piece or for the one and a half hour wait for our meals to come out. The server was apologetic, but that didn't speed things up any. The ambience was a bit confused. It seems like they are trying to for a classy image, but they played loud hip-hop and hairband music. Overall, we were very displeased and will not be returning any time soon.
Cons: expensive, loud, poor service

Just took my 2 key people and their spouses to the Grill Room for dinner...everything was wonderful; the food, the service, the view. We were all very impressed untill I laid down the $400.00 for the meal, drinks and wine. At that point some guy that looked like he worked for the mob come to our table and said"excuse me but we have a party of 8 waiting for this table and we need you to leave." There are many ways to handle something like this but this is the worst I can think of. Talk about a budget way to end a great evening. Shame on you!! I will never risk the embaresment of bringing anyone else to your restaurant and being asked to leave. You've gotten your last $400.00 from me.
