Since discovering McGrath's about a
year ago, we've been approximately 7 times, with family and friends. While at first we greatly enjoyed our experience there, (albeit extremely expensive at times), the last couple of dining experiences have led us to decide that we probably will not be dining there any longer. Crab cakes, 2 (small) for $8. The shrimp cocktail was served to us with dried out, rubbery prawns that had not been properly cleaned. My salad had several brown slimy "greens" in it. The Irish Nacho's had overcooked slices of potatoes, and was brought to the table cold. The lobster was very tough. The service was wonderful, but the price and downhill quality of the food is not acceptable.

This is my girlfriend's favorite place.
We come here every Sunday to enjoy glass of french wine and salmon with veggies. It is reasonably prices, close to our house and we had never had problem with taste, freshness or service. It had been pleasant experience throughout two years.

Very good seafood.
In reading the other reviews (one from a disgruntled former employee which I tend to dismiss), they mention poor service, but we've eaten at McGrath's several times and the service, while not fabulous, was certainly well within the acceptable range.
The fresh fish here is great and the specials are usually interesting. Every time we eat here, it's hard to decide what to get because so many things sound good.
Have never been disappointed in the food and the place seems to always be busy.
If you're looking for tasty fresh fish, I recommend this place. Just be prepared to wait a little if you go at peak hours.
I would give this 4 1/2 stars if that were allowed, averaging 5 for the food and 4 for service.

Good food, not the best service.
We live very close to McGrath's & my husband loves seafood, so we go there from time to time since they have a broad menu of non-seafood items (for those people like me who hate seafood). They have really good sandwiches & pasta, and my husband almost always raves about his dinner. The downside to McGrath's is service!! We once went with a group of 7 or 8 & had to wait over two hours to get seated because they bumped another group (of 10!!) ahead of us by accident & they took our table. McGrath's has no room for large parties (bigger than 4), so don't bother unless you want to wait forever. That same occasion, we were charged automatic gratuity of 18% (which I realize is standard), but on the menu it said the gratuity automatically charged would be 15%. Just pointing out the mistake to our waitress caused quite the scene as she said, so you don't think I deserve 18%?! It was outrageous. We were simply pointing it out so they could make a correction to either the menu or their billing system, but we had to be told off about how hard she was working. Although there is a good change we would have added a little more to the tip (which we customarily do when in a big group), we were wishing at that point we could deduct. And this isn't the only occasion we've received poor service, but the food is good enough that we just ignore it.
