Horrible.
I hate to even give this any kind of a star. The play "bipolar express". was lame and boring. Seemed like something my kids would have put on or you would see at an amature high school play.
The food was disgusting. I don't know where the steaks were but they were no where on our menu. we only could choose from pizza and appetizers.
My husband and I got the chicken basket. I think the chicken was from a can and pressed together in breading. It didn't taste or feel like chicken at all.
The seating is horrible. 4 people to a table the size you would have in your living room beside your couch (end table). Very cramped. Everytime we moved we were hitting someone at our table or someone to the table next to us.
Our server was an idiot. When we asked him to move a Chair from the back of our table next to the railing that no one was using he tried to just grab it out. which would have resulted in injurys to our table and probably several others around it. I had to give him the idea to takemy chair and slide the other around. He also spilled ranch all over my husband and said "oops it spilled". He didn't bring anything to clean it up or more dipping sauce.
They really need to serve alcohol. It would've made this horrible experience more manageable.
I would not ever go back in a million years. I would not suggest anyone to go there.
Hearty cowboy fare in a setting reminiscent of a 4th of July picnic..
The Scene
Decorating the barn-like dining room are old-time Western photos, patriotic bunting and a mural featuring a covered wagon. Meals are served at picnic tables covered with red-and-white checkered tablecloths, while country-western music plays in the background. It's the kind of place where servers call you "hon" and conversation may be interrupted by raucous birthday celebrations.
The Food
From a 6-oz tenderloin to a 2-lb porterhouse, grilled steaks dominate the menu. Fork-tender barbecue--chicken, pork ribs, smoked sausage--comes with extra sauce for dipping and a warm washcloth to wipe your sticky fingers. Fresh sourdough bread, a cup of chunky homemade soup or a mixed green salad (try the surprisingly spicy chipotle ranch dressing), and cumin-accented ranch beans accompany each entree. Baked potatoes are extra and fries are not available. Dessert choices are limited to apple and razzleberry cobblers or a brownie sundae, served warm with vanilla bean ice cream.
Best Steak for the Money.
Not a lot of variety on the menu, but the steaks have always been excellent and the price absolutely can't be beat. Their steaks do seem to cook slightly to the 'well' side. Even my wife, who likes her steaks medium-well and can't stand pink meat thought she would get medium next time.
Seating is in the open, like at a 'Western Style' Cafe. Tables are actually picnic benches covered by red and white checkered table cloths. Benches are without back support.
The wait can be very long on weekends. I recommend reservations if you have a large group. Your family will be happy here. I often take 8 or 10 people at a time to this place.
While you are there, make plans to go see their Playhouse 'farce' that they run next door, especially on weekends. Buy tickets well in advance if you want good seats.
Great Family Fun!!!!!!.
Finally, great comedy where you don't have to cover the kid's ears.
Every time I go, I come away with a side ache from laughing so hard.
Good stuff!.
This is a great place for steak!
I had the 12 oz. ribeye and my date had the half-rack of BBQ ribs. My ribeye was tender and cooked to perfection and had a good char-broiled flavor.
The ribs were tender and had generous amounts of meat on them. Both entrees were served with baked beans and veggies that were cooked just right. They weren't too crisp and weren't too soggy.
Our server was knowledgable, cheerful and prompt.
The best part was the prices. A similar steak at other steak places would have cost $14-$16 but at Desert Start it was only $11.99. I highly recommed this place to all! Enjoy!
Oh, you sit at picnic tables with a red checkered tablecloth so be prepared for that.
awesome fun. I thought that the plays are fun and very silly. The servers were awesome and were very upbeat. It's got a wonderful family atmosphere and I love the audience interaction. I can't wait for the new show to start!
Wowzers. This is such a cute place - perfect for dates. The shows are funny, it is interactive, the music is live, and great for all ages. Also, you can order and eat food as you watch the show. It was surprisingly really fun.
B.E.S. - Your Best Bet. Best entertainment in the state! Fun and enjoyable for the entire family. A rustic type setting with all the features of the old west.
Surprisingly good!. We didn't expect much from this homey-looking little place, but the food was amazingly good. The steaks were as good as any we've had at the higher-toned eateries around town--or better. And the prices are great.
WISH I COULD RATE IT AS A 15. THIS PLACE IS GREAT!! FOOD GREAT!!!! SERVICE GREAT!!!!!!!GREAT PRICE TOO!!!!!!
