Tips for European Tanning

Best salon ever.. I was completely baffled when i read the previous reviews on this amazing salon. I have been on a membership with European Tan for over 3 years and i have NEVER had a problem with it. It's to my understanding that they have changed the cancellation policy and you can now cancel in salon. Their staff is so knowledgable and friendly and always call me by name. They keep the salon super clean. I've been to other salons and the prices here are the best by far. I only pay $19.99 a month for unlimited tanning. I don't know why you would tan anywhere else. I'm a member for life!

AWFUL! What a HORRIBLE way to do business!!!. I have been to many tanning salons in my life and have NEVER had to write a letter to cancel my membership!!! You people should be absolutely ashamed of yourelves. What a horrible way to do business. I have referred several friends away from this salon and will continue to do so in the future.

FYI European Tanning Owner- I've read the reviews about your salons & most of the complaints have to do with your automatic billing practices. If you were really THAT honest, you would have no problem letting your customers cancel their membership in person. Period.

COMPLETELY Dishonest Ownership. I tried to cancel my membership - IN WRITING, 30 days in advance, after having some very unpleasant experiences with the tanning salon (the versa spa ran out of spray during my tan, TWICE. Management refused to issue another tan to fix the HALF tan).

I canceled in writing prior to the deadline in August of 2009. A payment was again taken in September of 2009. I wrote ANOTHER letter canceling my membership. Dues were again withdrawn from my account. This continued throughout 2009 and into 2010. I finally disputed the charges with my credit card company in May of 2010.

European Tan submitted 'usage records' to my credit card company saying I'd visited the salon in January, April and MAY! I MOVED OUT OF THE CITY and hadn't used European Tan since SEPTEMBER of 2009!!! I can't even express how completely frustrated I am at this point. I feel completely helpless and wonder if I have any choice but to contact an attorney to actually cancel my membership!

I've called the salon several times and asked to speak to the owner or management in an effort to just find out what else they need from me! No one ever calls me back or can help me.

My membership was supposedly officially cancelled in May after all the dispute drama. I was charged AGAIN in June and just checked and saw my account was debited again in July of 2010. I disputed the charges with my credit card company again tonight! I can't seem to get rid of European Tan - regardless of my multiple letters of cancellation and them even being contacted by the dispute department!

I don't know what to do at this point other than contact an attorney and/or go through the hassle of canceling all of my automatic payments associated with that card and issuing a new card that they don't have the number for!

It has been a FULL YEAR that I have tried to cancel with them. I cannot fathom how they can justify such outright dishonesty. I have never dealt with such crooked people in my life. I played by the rules and followed their protocol - several times! There is no way to cancel your membership - DO NOT go to European Tan.

Try Treasure Island tanning - they have a GREAT high pressure bed at very reasonable rates.

I can't believe European Tan actually fabricated my usage history in order to not have to refund the debits of the past year. I moved for heavens sake. Unless I have a split personality that goes tanning without knowing it, then they are completely unethical and amoral business people. I would advise staying far far away from these folks. And so would my bank account that has been debited for an entire year after cancellation.

UGH!

Best Tanning Salon There Is.. I am a former employee and would like to let all clients of European Tan know that I can assure you the "behind the scenes" of this tanning salon are amazing. I have never worked for another employer who is so diligently keeping up on the latest in the tanning industry as well as constantly training on customer service and staff's knowledge of tanning as a whole. I was a client there for years before I became employed there...and both sides, for me, were absolutely enjoyable. I can say..I would still be working there today but after working for such a great owner, who has actually become more of a mentor to me, I have decided to become a business owner myself...and as for tanning there....I will never go anywhere else. Keep up the good work Euro Team!

Thumbs down. one of the most irritating things is having the staff try to push products on me to an absolutely obnoxious level every single time I walk in. I am 40 years old and look to be in my mid 20s and am tired of some lady with over-aged looking, over-tanned leathery skin telling me, "if you're serious about your tan then you'll buy this advanced package and use these products."

Also, never allow this fraudulent place to auto-withdrawal from your bank account. In order to cancel you must submit in writing with 30 days notice and even then the owner still hit my account for $26.70 a month until the credit card expired. One time my card had insufficient funds and they charged me an extra $10 for that but ironically when they mistakenly charged me twice per month, which happened multiple times, they in return didn't give me anything for having to catch their mistake for them. Their auto-withdrawal policy is intentionally set up to be the most difficult system for canceling. Why not have it to where customers can call in and verify identity and authorize canceling by giving personal info? Or, why not make it to where we could have canceled in person during a visit by signing something? Because the owner wants it to be as easy as possible to sign up for auto-withdrawal but as difficult as possible to cancel, that is why!

Bad Bad Bad. Beware Auto-withdraw payment membership. OK... I have to comment on what a previous poster touched on and would warn people against opening a membership using a monthly Credit Card Auto-withdraw option. It is virually IMPOSSIBLE to cancel with these people at the end of the contract period. Considering that this seems to continue to happen with no intervention from management makes me wonder what's "going on"!! They will think up any number of excuses as to why your request for cancelation has not been processed. Obviously the open-ended, month to month payment, after the contract period has expired is not a wise option for unsuspecting CUSTOMERS to sign off on. It's likely that You will continue to pay for MONTHS after you "Cancel"

In Response to former employee. Hi my name is George owner of European Tan. I had a customer bring this to my attention wow. Not sure why anyone would do this to any company unless they are bitter about there past employer. I have no legal issues against my company or myself.

My packages are the most affordable in the industry. My memberships started at $19.99 in 2001 and today 2009 they are still $19.99 not sure how I over charge. We have the latest technology in the industry that we provide to our clients. We continue to grow as a company and educate our valued clients on a daily basis on the tanning process.

My beds are cleaned with a clean towel with sanitizer disinfected after every session, I hope nobody uses "pesticide sprays" on there acrylics. Feel free to call the Salt Lake Valley Health Dept. so see what they say about us. As a consumer it's all open to the public.

We have been doing memberships in SLC for over 8 years now. Based on our membership agreement you can cancel or freeze your membership anytime after the first 30 days with a 30 day written notice. That is our policy and has been the same for over 8 years. Our agreement is extremely easy to read with NO hidden verb age in it. Our memberships are $19.99 and $24.99 not sure where this past staff member gets $30 maybe that's why she does not work for the company anymore.

I have had employees for over four years and they know and have great public relations with our clients. It is very important on the customer service level to know clients names and we strive to know each and every client by name after at least the third visit.

I have nothing to hide, I know that not everyone will be happy with European Tan but hopefully 99% will. I do have a lot of pride in my company too. I encourage anyone to come down and see how your experience will be and you be the judge. I have thousands of comments from our suggestion boxes and over 98% of our clients are completely satisfied based on: cleanliness, customer service, tanning results and education! I will take those averages anytime. If you are not completely satisfied there are plenty of tanning salons in SLC to hopefully to take care of your tanning needs.

WORST MOST DISGUSTING SALON! DO NOT GO!. I am a former employee so what some people may think they see from the outside, I know behind the scenes.

The owner is horrible! He treats his employees terrible, and overcharges for beds. He has laywers TRYING to fight off alegations against him. That right there should tell you it's not a ethicly run place.

The beds may "seem" clean but are cleaned with a formula full of water and a VERY tiny bit of pesticide. Nothing you want to be laying on. Disgusting.

The "memberships" are a joke. They say you can "freeze" the account but that is ONLY on the month to month (not on the year) and instead of drafting 30 dollars a month they will charge you $5 per month. So it never really starts drafting. You can't just cancel it. You have to give EXACTLY 30 days notice prior to the date or it will still charge and you can ONLY cancel by writing in to a P.O BOX.

Try Golden Tan; They have all the same equipment for a lower price and much nicer staff. Or Aloha Tan, family owned so they will know you by name every time and are very knowlegable on the beds. There are a lot of nice salons on there but DO NOT VISIT this one.
