Tips for Dog Lodge

January 18, 2013

I love the dog lodge! They know my dog, even have nicknames for her! their hours are great so I can work late or early. My dog doesn't smell after being there and she is so tired after playing all day she' s asleep in the car by the time I reach the freeway (which the dog lodge is conveniently located next to). I like that they remove the collars for safe play and use the spray bottle for discipline. I wish their facility was bigger and that they had a webcam but then again, I'd just spend all my time watching my dog. the report cards after boarding are super cute and sometimes I get pictures. I think their customer service is excellent and am so happy I finally found a good daycare for my dog. thank you dog lodge!

I would have given them three stars, except there are a few things I am having a hard time overlooking. I requested that while my dog was in their care, they not allow her to jump on them. They ignored my request. I told them that she needs some time to acclimate behind the gate before they throw her in with the other dogs. Again, they did not listen to me. They are not step up very well. They bring the dog in, remove collar and leash and then open the gate. The new dog has to swim through a sea of 30 other dogs in order to get into the open, and to some, it can be very stressful.

They allow dominance behaviors like humping and head arching. That is not ok. It will lead to fights. Christine hires mostly high school students to work at her day care. They appear to have no knowledge of pack behavior.

On the plus side, I feel that they do genuinely care about the dogs in their care, they just aren't set up for the nervous ones and they are not very knowledgeable...that I have seen.

Highly recommend. Great facility with indoor/outdoor play areas allowing good, social atmosphere for dogs. First time we needed to board our dog and left knowing she would be in good hands and not locked in a solitary cage.

Great service (we needed to drop off our dog early).

Top Grade!. The Dog Lodge is delightfully charming! You feel comfortable the moment you walk in, and you know that they will take care of your furry friend. They are the only ones I'll take my baby to! Highly Recommended!
