This outpost of the local doughnut chain can be difficult to find and not quite as pleasing as others..
The Scene
Tucked into a hidden corner of a downtown office plaza, this Tommie's features bay windows that allow the curious to see doughnuts being made, festive flags adorning the walls, and a few chairs and small tables to accommodate those not rushing off to work. Like most business-complex shops, it's busiest weekday mornings when folks need a quick fix.
The Food
Tommie's serves only its namesake item (and beverages), no breakfast wraps or pre-fab lunches. The cinna-sugar daddy, a.k.a. glazed, can be a little dry and less than fresh come afternoon. Sugar-fiends will love the confetti, a raised doughnut with rainbow sprinkles and white frosting, though purists may be disappointed that the toppings overwhelm the taste of the pastry itself. But with two dozen selections (each under $1), folks are sure to find favorites.
