Editorial Review for Barnes and Noble – by Citysearch Staff

The Scene
Established in 1873 and still thriving, this mainstream American bookseller operates 569 locations (and does brisk on-line business as well). Ubiquitous and well-organized, Barnes & Noble arranges its huge collections in 22 user-friendly categories, from Art and Architecture to Romance and Travel. Many stores host seasonal book signings and family-friendly "Storytimes," and many locations also feature cafes selling--what else?--Starbucks coffee.

The Goods
Boasting more than a million titles--many at bargain prices--from thousands of publishers, Barnes & Noble is the chain bookstore to beat. Its strongest offerings are in trade books (business, computer and medical), mass-market paperbacks (from classics to thrillers) and children's books for preschoolers, teens and in-betweens. For an annual fee, customers can join the "Readers' Advantage" program, getting an additional 10 percent off on all in-store purchases, plus other members-only discounts and promotional offers.

How can you go wrong at a Barnes & Noble. Especially when you walk in and the first thing you notice is the great smell of coffee from Starbucks. This Barnes & Noble is a great location and there's tons of parking. Also a great place to just grab a Caramel Frappuccino and read a book!

Pros: Starbucks, Atmosphere, Location

Cons: Service, Layout

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I love this place. I love to read, and Barnes and Noble has almost anything I want. I spend forever in there, and Dakota is my favorite. He is nice, and knows tons about books. He's great to talk to and very friendly. He makes me want to go there everyday and spend all my money. :)

Pros: Dakota!, Chairs, Great atmosphere

Cons: The Gateway gets cold, Starbucks (yuck), No Harold and Maude
