It was a favorite memory growing up, and now I take my own children there every year. It is a fun tradition that gets the holiday season started right. It reminds us what Christmas is all about with the beautiful nativities while the lights of temple square bring the festive holiday spirit to downtown Salt Lake. I definitely recommended this to everyone.
Are you kidding me?. I saw this in the "Top Ten Utah Experiences", and I had to laugh out loud. There is nothing special or elaborate about this display, and this just shows how little SLC has to offer entertainment-wise.
Awesome. Do not miss this. You will never forgive yourself. It was a wondeful experience.
Catch Christmas fever at Salt Lake City's most famous attraction..
The Scene
This 10-acre block located in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City is one of the most popular tourist spots in Utah. Within its 15-foot walls are two visitor centers (one houses an 11-foot marble replica of Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen's "The Christus"), the Tabernacle, the Assembly Hall and several monuments and statues.
The Appeal
At Christmas, Temple Square is packed with lights (more than 300,000) and visitors (too many to count). Stroll through the grounds and take in the scenery or hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearse on Thursday evenings. If you get tired of walking, cuddle up under a blanket enjoy a ride around town in a horse-drawn carriage. You can usually find one near the south entrance of Temple Square.
Must-See for Christmas!. This is the one thing I love best about living in Salt Lake City, the chance to see temple square!! There's nothing like bundling up and going out into the cold and walking around looking at the lights!! We usually combine it with christmas shopping, it's such a great experience to get you in the holiday spirit!
delightful lights. People from all over flock to Salt Lake City's Temple Square at Christmastime because of the amazing Christmas lights. Lights of all colors fill every tree and bush on the grounds. Many people find it convenient to stop by and see the lights while they are downtown shopping anyway. Its perfect for families or couples.
Beautiful. This is what always puts me in the mood for Christmas. A total tradition.
