Whether you seek an ottoman, body piercing or an out-of-print edition, chances are you'll find it here.. The Scene
The collection of merchants at 2100 South and 1100 East attracts everyone from grandmothers to punk rockers. The first shops arrived in 1910, when Sugar House was a residential district and the state penitentiary stood where Sugar House Park now is. By the 1940s, the area had become a thriving business community, replete with consignment shops and antique and used bookstores.

The Goods
Each shop's personality jumps from its windows. Many of the small businesses cater to eclectic tastes. While the area seems to focus on a younger clientele, the actual demographics span many age groups. Wander from eclectic to counterculture to conservative in just a few steps. Or cross the street and explore Old Navy at the new Sugar House Commons complex. If shopping isn't your gig, settle into one of the bookstores or the library for a good read.

Definitly a cool spot. Sugarhouse has a great atmosphere. It has some great second hand clothing stores where you can find just about anything you desire at great prices. The clothes are unique and the feel of the area is just plain fun. If you're into Wicca or new age type stuff, there are tons of stores for you.

Love the variety. The Sugar House area has certainly developed into bustling neighborhood. The boutique stores along 11th east have always been interesting, and the addition of the shopping center behind the library has really changed the scene. I love that the developers put the parking behind the storefronts on the street. The parking lot is a royal mess sometimes--so packed it'll make you crazy. But the meandering stream and the landscaping next to the stores and restaurants really makes it attractive on the parking-lot side, too.
