Editorial Review for Heber Valley – by Citysearch Staff
Overview
Once a rich agricultural valley at the base of the Wasatch backside, the Park City area still offers the golden hues of drying grasses and delicate aspens contrasted with the occasional farmhouse or dilapidated barn. Continue east past the Park City exit to Heber City, home to the Heber Valley Historic Railroad, Wasatch Mountain State Park and the cozy Homestead Resort.
The Experience
Wasatch Mountain sports a 27-hole golf course as well as camping, picnicking, hiking, biking and horseback-riding opportunities. The winding road through the park makes for a nice autumn bike ride as it rises through groves of aspen, maple and oak to a summit that offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. (The relatively low elevation means the autumn colors linger longer.) You'll also find wildlife such as deer, moose, porcupine, badger and several species of raptors.
