Fantastic Food - Servers need personality. We went to Bambara last evening and had a great experience. We arrived 30 minutes early to have cocktails in the bar. The bar service was less than personable, but we enjoyed the atmosphere. After we finished our cocktails, we went into the dining room for dinner. We started off with the calamari (EXCELLENT) and the tuna tartar (beautiful presentation - but not a favorite). We ordered a bottle of champagne (good bottle - unfortunately the server had no idea how to open a bottle correctly). My guests ate caesar salads which they enjoyed and I ate the bay shrimp salad (good). We all ordered the filet (A Perfect Cut of Meat - finally a chef who knows how to cook a steak perfectly medium rare). We ended our meal with the ice creams and sorbets (Wonderful)! The server was very friendly and helpful - he just needs a little bit of polishing to be great. Coming from 13 years of hospitality experience and being a new comer to Salt Lake City, it was great to finally get good food in this city!
New Chef leads to great food.. Bamabara has always had decent food but I dined there last night and it was impressive. Their new chef clearly can innovate and it was apparent through the piquillo peppers stuffed with crab, cedar planked salmon with poblano chile sauce was perfect and a impeccably cooked crusted sea bass. Can't beat the wine list and the dessert expert that dined with us said teh panna cotta was one of the best he had ever tried. The restaurant is clearly matching their eccletic hotel with some great food coming from their kitchen.

This is my second time to Bambara and the food both times was great.
The first visit was for a friend?s birthday and the service was just OK, she made it obvious that she was not happy that we brought our own wine to have with dinner; however the food and dessert were very good.
The second visit was excellent, yes we brought our own wine and the waiter was receptive and seemed OK with that, the food once again was very good. I want to give kudos to the host that I made reservations with; he asked me if it was a special occasion, and yes it was for a birthday and the staff had presented us with a menu and on the top it had the individuals name on the menu that said Happy Birthday?. Nice touch Bambara (sorry I can?t remember the host?s name but thanks) I would recommend Bambora and I intent to return for special occasions.
Check out Thier Awesome Bar!. I made my way in to Bambara bar on New Year's Eve and had a great time. Bar Keeps could not be beat, they were so helpful and really attentive with good conversation skills. I had their signiture lemon drop is it was the best I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and check out the bar next time you are in.
Continual favourite. Citysearch only allows 2000 characters to write a review. I really need more to be able to wax lyrical about Bambara. Where to start!? From arrival and greeting to a digestif at the end of the meal, Bambara is typically flawless. I have been many times over the last 5 years and am always welcomed on arrival asa long time friend. Make sure you grab a table by the windows were you can pretend your whiling an evening away in a bigger city. The service is second to none. The friendly team of wait staff know the food and the flavours. I recently in fact had my first taste of chayote there as part of a fabulously moist chicken entree, the server expertly explained what the heck it was for me when I queried it. No pretension, just a friendly detailed appraisal. The menu changes seasonally and in my experience most of the dishes are well executed in the open kitchen. Sometimes on very busy nights food can arrive a little cold to the table. This is a slight negative but the kitchen falls over themselvesto rectify issues that may arrive. Their desserts are also excellent. I myself never usually eat dessert but always find room to share one with my wife when we visit. Bambara features a decent wine list with several by the glass. Servers again are only too happy to recommend pairings. As the restaurant is attached to a similarly named private club there is also an extensive cocktail and liquor menu; affording some great brandies and ports as a digestif. Persoanlly I find Bambara very good value for the price. Entrees range from $18-$35. there are serveral places you can spend a lot more for a lot less in SLC. Wine and liquor is a little pricey but this is to be expected. Be sure to book ahead at the weekends, the restaurant gets very busy, but is never too noisy suprisingly. If your celebrating anything be sure to pick Bambara and let them know, you will have a first class experience I am sure.

If you want a great meal, beautifully made and arranged like a true presentation - this is definitely the place you should come! Don't think you can afford to be a regular - not true! Order one of their fabulous appetizers and you are set for lunch anytime!!
Have to admit, I'm a big fan. Bambara has great food and a fun atmosphere. I went for lunch and fell in love with the salad I had (included spiced walnuts, green apple-curls, blue-cheese crumbles, etc. DELCIOUS). The entree was good, not amazing, but the dessert was great too. The waiter was very good, and the host remembered our names and hailed us on our way out. Very fun, just this side of classy, and very good food.
Good food, but snooty.
I will say that the food was good, you will probably enjoy anything you order. I had the Ribeye Steak and my wife had the Halibut, both were very good.
The staff needs personality, they were a bit snooty. To bad, this place could be one of the premier restuarants in SLC.
I probably won't go back, as I usually enjoy more comradorie with the staff, and you won't get that here.
A must-try in SLC.. Bambara offers an exciting, contemporary menu with decor and service to match. I started with the Roasted Corn and Peeky Toe Crab Bisque. The flavors were sublime and addictive. I had a difficult time choosing an entree, since everthing sounded good. The server recommended the filet so I tried it, and it was exceptional. The server was engaging, pleasant, and efficient all at once. The wine list offers a nice selection at prices you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. The only thing I found odd is how casualy some people dressed yesterday evenling. One gentleman showed up in a leopard spotted bathrobe and socks (I'm not kidding) and was seated joyfully. It doesn't really bother me, I just thought it was a little peculiar.
Excellent meal, good service, quality experience. Good food well prepared and interestingly seasoned. Scores as a best restaurant in town every year.
