Mill Creek Canyon

Millcreek Canyon. What a great day to spend up the canyon w/my two boys! If you're looking for inexpensive and fun activities w/the kids - head up Millcreek Canyon. We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch and then took a great hike together. It was an easy walk, but it gave us time to talk and have fun together. I made sure they stayed away from the creek because it's running so fast, but other than that the weather was absolutely perfect and the scenery is breathtaking. And the fee is only $3.00/car, but I think next time I'll spend the $40.00 for an annual pass. What a great place to go on spur of the moment and its definetely something that you can enjoy by yourself or w/the family!

Now that we're finished they're journaling about their experience today & it was well worth it for the three of us.

This carefully maintained canyon is a popular destination for families, hikers and bikers.. Overview
Since 1991, a protection and management program has worked to restore this park's recreational facilities and natural habitats. Mill Creek Canyon now boasts a number of first-class picnic areas and hiking trails, and it's become a popular destination for brunch cookouts on Sunday mornings. Many also visit the area for mountain biking, but bikes are allowed on the upper trails only on even-numbered days.

The Experience
Some visitors come to hang out and relax in the picnic areas, while others come for the great trails. A fishing dock and boardwalk are popular year-round. However, the star of this park is the Grandeur Peak Trail. Start out at the Church Fork Picnic area and wind through some switchbacks to climb to a summit that affords views of the Salt Lake Valley.
