After playing host to the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2002 Olympics, this is home again for Ute football..
The Scene
The stadium, with its breath-taking view of the valley and close proximity to the other venues, is home of the University of Utah football team and major concerts. Known to the world for two weeks in 2002 as Olympic Stadium, this was the location of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics. The flame is now permanently extinguished, but the structure is a permanent addition to the stadium.
The 2002 Ceremonies
The Olympic Games began here with the passing of the torch, the lighting of the Olympic flame and the parade of athletes. Little more than two weeks later, the closing ceremony saw the snuffing of the flame and another congregation of the athletes.
