The Films
Don't think that the Commons is just another Hollywood-saturated multi-plex hell. While mainstream cinema is well represented, the option to indulge in the 70mm grandeur of IMAX or the 16mm brilliance of aged classics is just as viable.
The Scene
Meticulously re-created, for your nostalgic pleasure, are the facades of the great movie palaces of Salt Lake's past. Bask in the neon-marquee warmth as you make your way to comfortable, and oh-so-functional stadium seating. The Commons is a great place to kill two birds with one stone: feed the family and enjoy a good flick at the same time. Real food (beyond the nacho and popcorn mainstays) is sold and may be eaten in the theatres.

It is always clean and has friendly helpful staff that are always willing to do whatever they can to make your time more enjoyable. They have a great selection of types of food as well as movies that you wouldn't worry about your kids seeing. Jordan Commons is my favorite place to see movies in the Salt Lake area!

I have recently stopped going to this theater. The assigned seats have some advantages, like if you get your tickets early you don't have to worry about getting stuck front row. The downsides for me have been people coming in late and not being able to find there seats (just wondering up and down the aisles) or disrupting the movie because everyone in the row needs to slide down one seat. I think this idea would only really work well if they also bring back the usher to help people find there seats. Or just assign seats to potentially full movies. If there are only a small hand full of people do they really need assigned seats?

Modestly cool theater layout (the screening rooms are scattered in an walled-in city-like structure) and high quality snacks. They sell freaking Swedish Fish!
