The Scene – As you walk in, you're greeted by the friendly sushi chef. Banners with Japanese designs hang from the walls, and festive lanterns dangle from the ceiling, softening the light. Business people and ski bums sit shoulder to shoulder at the bar savoring the morsels that the chefs place in front of them. – – The Food – Entrée choices include the usual teriyaki dishes along with lightly battered, golden tempura and rice and noodle bowls. Each is served with miso soup, salad and rice. The fresh, artfully presented sushi takes the spotlight, however. You…

Great find

Sakura Sushi has been one of my best finds since moving to Salt Lake City. The location is great and the seating on the deck is wonderful in the summer, the staff is so friendly, they have a great membership card deal, and I really enjoy the food. My boyfriend and I had to stop going on the weekends because it is was a little too busy and the wait is longer, but we still love it.
- Pros: Friendly staff, warm and cozy, tastey
- Cons: Busy on the weekends
Verging on a dive, but without awesome dive-y food.

Everyone at this small, cozy, almost-dive is cordial and smiling. However, they could use some extra help, I think. With only one server working this Saturday night, my party and I waited about 15 minutes to have our oders taken and much longer to receive our food. The food itself was pretty average, as far as Japanese food in SLC goes. I suppose that when I walk into a place that is a dive or almost a dive, I expect something more authentic than what I found; something with a bit of charm. The food was palatable and the miso soup and salad were indeed very good, but there was nothing special about Sakura in the least. If you are in the mood for Japanese food for a lunch break, try it. A romantic evening or a gourmet meal?? Not a chance.
- Pros: Easy parking. Good soup and salad.
- Cons: Long wait time due to lack of servers. Average main courses.
Overall Excellent Sushi Place

The food is great here. The service is great here. The ambience is perfect. What more could you want. The sushi is awesome and is a great deal. Their prices are great. Highly recommend the spider roll--my alltime favorite. The salad dressing is so good. I could go and just eat that. And for all you non-sushi eaters there are teriyaki and tempura kind of dishes to choose from, which are good. Also, don't forget to finish out your meal with the amazing green tea ice cream they sell!
- Pros: sushi, green tea ice cream, salad
Not the best sushi

I went to this restaurant for the first time last weekend and we only ordered the spicy tuna and a california roll. The tuna was mushy and tasted horrible. The california roll did not taste fresh. I won't be back.
- Pros: Good prices
Moved away

I am sorry that both Sakura and I moved further apart. That means I am further away from a good restaurant where I have never had a bad meal. The fish is always tasty although more than once I have run the place out of Albacore. Yummm!
