The Scene – Outside, there's a small patio surrounded by a wooden fence decorated with hubcaps and old Western-style boots. A wrecked car is covered with spray paint and stickers. The interior is just as colorful--metal-topped tables, multicolored banners hanging from the ceiling and heavy, blue wooden chairs. – – The Food – Some of the most authentic fish tacos you'll find around town, only the fish is marinated and grilled--not deep-fried as it is in Baja. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I used to go to Lone Star a couple times a month, starting some 12 or 13 years ago when they first opened, then I moved to Washington State in 2001. I have told everyone I know that is traveling to Salt Lake they have to go to Lone Star, they all agree the fish tacos are the best. I warn everyone that these fish tacos will ruin every fish taco they have anywhere else and again they all agree. I have been back to Salt Lake a dozen times in the last year and a half and Lone Star is my first stop after leaving the airport. Their burritos are the bomb too.
- Pros: no better fish taco anywhere
- Cons: they are in Salt Lake, I'm in Spokane

You basically get lured in by the station wagon parked in front with the stickers all over it and the umbrellas in the back seat. It's a colorful joint.
Yet it's the antithesis of the Cafe Rio craze. Yes, that means smaller portions. And tacos that aren't totally dripping wet. Nor are they stuffed with cilantro. But there's something light and easy about them. Take two of these and you'll feel totally sublime.
- Pros: Creamy lime sauce, pleasant outdoor seating, cheap
