Not there anymore, replaced by Cafe Trio, an excellent restaurant!. Rivers was good, but it is now gone. It has been rep[laced by one of the bestr restaurants on the east side, Cafe Trio. Cafe Trio is great, you won't be disappointed for trying it. Also a great bargain for the quality of food and service!

Worst service ever and food not good. Very slow service took about 30 minutes just to oreder a drink. Did not server the right cocktails and would not exchange them. Also the food was not good at all, so that topped it all. Would not recomend this place go to Del Taco!!!

User review by mtoly. The hostess is arrogant, but once you get past the front door the waiters and food are above average.

Generous portions, reasonable prices and flavorful contemporary American cuisine, make this mid-valley restaurant a treasure.. The Scene
The place is casual chic and high energy. The exposed industrial ceiling, wooden beams and tile floor create a rustic setting in which everyone--from kids to grandparents--feels comfortable.

The Food
For a lighter meal, combine half orders of two salads--perhaps the Asian chicken in peanut-ginger dressing and the lobster and asparagus with citrus-vanilla bean vinaigrette. Among the pastas, fettuccini with clams, mussels and shrimp in a spicy red sauce and penne with ham, mushrooms and peas in goat cheese-cream sauce are satisfying combinations of flavors. For a heartier meal, try the double-cut pork chops with a memorable port-wine sauce or the grilled halibut nicoise with Greek olives and capers. Each are accompanied by seasonal vegetables and potatoes, selected to match the entree.

Great Outdoor Dining. We brought some family over to dine at the recommended outdoor patio at Rivers. The ambience after dark was amazing and the wait staff was more than accommodating with all of our requests. Overall, an excellent culinary experience.

disappointing. A friend was excited to take us here. The hostess actually forgot we were waiting (her admission). So much for making reservations. The ambience is nice, although there are too many tables crowded into the space. Our server was attentive. But the food..our friend was disappointed that they changed their menu somewhat. We had the California roll, seared ahi tuna, roasted chicken and pasta, and the cheeseburger pie. I do like cooking and researching recipes. The food wasn't bad - it just wasn't anything to rave about. The presentation was nice but the taste was mediocre. We asked for the dessert menu but after the entrees we didn't want to pay for a mediocre dessert. They did sound interesting. But then so did the food when we originally ordered. It's too bad - Rivers has the potential of being a great place to take friends.

A rollercoaster of a meal. Having dined at Rivers under so many differant situations, I have found a wide range of impressions. First, their food. Original, tasty, and very well described in their menus, it is definately the high point. The service has been at both extremes, some visits being amazing, some apalling, I guess it's a gamble. The way they deal with their alchohol however is rather greedy. For a simple taster of an unfamiliar beer one can expect to be gouged, and then given the runaround by management once the bill comes up and your expensive taste-test sprung upon you. If going for a quick meal, I would pick them, but for a relaxing, diverse experiance I would probably look for somewhere more responsible.

Rivers is naturally inviting. The river rock and rustic furnishings reflect the environment of a restaurant nestled in the canyon foothills. The menu offers a variety of fabulous choices and the food preparation and presentation are consistently excellent.

A wonderful menu.. "unoriginal, uninspired cuisine"??? Interesting...lobster salad with vanilla bean citrus vinagrette, green curry thai linguine with scallops and mussels. That sounds pretty original to me. I love cooking and researching recipes. This is a great place for a delicious meal, romantic ambience, great service and beer....my experience EVERY time I have had the pleasure of visiting. I enjoy innovative cuisine that is worth the $$$....that is RIVERs.
