Resolved.
Typically, frequent, regular customers are a business's most valued asset. Not at Cafe Trio. If you have a concern, it's your fault. If something isn't right, it's your problem. And it doesn't matter how many times each month you dine there or how many people you've referred to their business. They are right, you are wrong, and you're just lucky to have the privilege to spend your money there. And management won't even respond to you if you contact them after an incident, so don't even try! Regardless of how many times you may have dined at Cafe Trio over the years and how many rewards programs you've completed with them, the customer is not important. They don't care about you. My suggestion, patronize another Italian restaurant like Sea Salt or Sette Bello (pizza) where they value your business.
Update: The manager called me directly to discuss my concern and offer a solution. This was very helpful. I consider the matter resolved.
Cafe Trio - It's time for a new menu!.
While I don't think that the food at Trio is bad, it hasn't changed in sooo long. It's always the same old menu. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but time for a new menu already or at least add some new things to the menu.
Business 101 hint to owner: Get some fresh menu ideas and your business will pick up!!
never going there again.
we made reservations for 6 people, later called and changed it to 7 people. The night of the reservation, another friend decided to come with, so we had a total of 8. Upon arrival, we informed the hostess, and she immediately got a really snotty attitude stating "Well the reservation was for 6, so now you are going to have to wait about 20 minutes for 8 people"
So we sat at the bar, had a very friendly bartender, and we enjoyed the cocktails. Once the table was ready for us to be sat, the same hostess came over and said, again in a snotty attitude "Before I sit you, I need you to close out your bar now." She stood in our way and kept pointing at the bar.
By the way, this event occurred on Saturday March 5th at 730pm
The food was nothing too exciting. In fact, it was quite bland and the salmon that we were served was RAW. Yes, they made us another dish, but by that time, our impression of this restaurant was tarnished.
None of the 8 of us will ever return to this restaurant, and will be warning others of the experience
Woderful Mother's Day Brunch. We took our mother to Mother's Day Brunch. We elected to try the loft as we had not been there before. The views of the city and mountains were fabulous, but the climb up the steps was steep and not for the faint of heart. The food was amazing, and there was a large selection of everything to satisfy everyone. Our waiter was wonderful and fun. We defiantly will come back again for special occasions and for a quiet night out. If you like Italian food with a modern twist, you need to try this place. There is a down town location as well. I look forward to coming back.
Do not go to the Cafe Trio in Cottonwood!. Our group was disgusted to find (after taking several sips) that 3 out of our party's 7 people had long, dark hairs in our water! After informing our rather unapologetic waitress, we were asked if we would like new waters...um, hello..YES!?! As we were at a birthday party, we laughed off the situation though it was quite an appetite killer. However, the waitress told us that they would give us free desserts to "make up" for it. During dinner, the "birthday" girl found a large eggshell in her pasta. After the incident with the "hairy" waters, she officially lost her appetite and did not eat any of her meal. Because the waitress had offered free deserts for the fiasco, most of our party ended up ordering them. Once our bills came, however, we found that only a couple of the desserts were comped. We finally asked to speak with the restaurants manager, and after about a half hour of waiting, the manager finally came to our table. After explaining the situation to her we were told, "and what would you like me to do about it?" Now, none of us are that picky of restaurant goers. The whole hairy water thing was quite gross but we all made light of it. However, the obvious lack of concern and deceptive behavior by the staff left our birthday celebration with a bad taste (literally) in our mouths. I don't understand how a restaurant can survive with such bad customer service! There are plenty of other good restaurants with good food AND good service, that I will never put myself through such an experience again!!!
Their chef must be insecure with the amount of salt and seasonings used. There is nothing subtle about the food here. I don't know what they are trying to achieve, but I am sure if you smoke a pack a day this food will suit your taste buds. The food is not as described on the menu, it is way over seasoned you can't even taste the actual food over the seasonings.. And I am not the type of person who doesn't like spice or interesting flavors. The cauliflower that was meant to be carmelized was really just scorched and hard. Carmelizing is really not that hard to do. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there is very little skill and art in the kitchen. Everything from the first course to the last course was mediocre.
Sweet Tooth Utopia. When I am heading to Trio (although I DO love the entire menu), I tend to skip dinner and go straight to dessert. The pastry chef is obviously some type of sugar coated super hero! My favorite is Tim's Chocolate Noir Cake. I also adore the Lemon Polenta Pound Cake. If you have a sweet tooth, any Trio will do! I believe the same company owns the downtown spot and also Fresco, because I've seen the beloved "Tim Cake" both other places.
Try the pizzas!. My husband & I eat here once or twice a month & always get pizzas (they are all good!!). I don't think we've even tried anything else on the menu, but everyone we take here loves it regardless of what they get. Make reservations for large groups, as they don't have many large tables & you will wait forever!! The weird thing that I've noticed is that 95% of the people who work there are skinny, young girls. Sexist manager anyone? Kind of creeps me out. And don't bother with valet...the parking lot is right there & I have not seen it full once.
Don't Valet Park at Trio.
My girlfriend and I went out to a nice dinner at Trio on Saturday 9/22. The dinner was great, but when I got my car car back from the valet boy, it smelled like smoke (not cigarett smoke either), and it looked like he had sneezed dripping snot right on my dashboard. Didn't even try to clean it up. It made me ill and ruined what was a great, fun night out.
Eat and enjoy the food, but find your own parking spot. Valet parking was HORRIBLE!
Valet Screwjob. The only reason these kids work valet is for the tips, not to drive your expensive cars- so I think it's unfair that THE VALETS DON'T GET TO KEEP THEIR TIPS- THE RESTAURANT COLLECTS THEM AT THE END OF THE NIGHT. This is the rich stealing from the poor...I guess they already realize that they are going under because their food and service are so bad, so they have to steal from the valets.
