What People Are Saying About Tuscany

The Scene – The detail-rich decor at Tuscany is dramatic and inviting. It envelopes diners with high ceilings, hand-painted tiles, terra-cotta floors, a series of richly appointed dining rooms, comfortable seating and lots of windows. Then there are the tantalizing aromas from the open kitchen and wood-burning oven. Outside, the tree-covered patio is a glorious spot to sit and enjoy some fine cuisine. – – The Food – Overall, the food is good--and a good value. The herb-crusted beef carpaccio is one of the consistently tasty appetizers, as is the seasonal pear salad…
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- The bar (a private club) offers much more than your average watering hole, including a great martini menu. The wine list is vast, varied and well-matched to the food.
- When to Go:
- Try the Sunday brunch buffet with specialties like Belgian waffles, omelettes and eggs Benedict.
RUDE and MEDIOCRE
by sarjen45
I've been to Tuscany's before and was greeted with great service, mediocre but creative food, and friendly staff. HOWEVER, I decided to go there again to celebrate a friend's birthday and was sadly disappointed with poor service, mediocre food, and the evening ruined by the attitude of our waiter. Middle aged, receding hairline, dark brown hair, moderate length, 190-200lbs. Working on Saturdays.
We waited forever for our food but it was tolerable since the group had bread to snack on. Our waiter was rude and clearly forgot any sort of etiquette. I thought this was suppose to be a refined establishment?! Our waiter had the attitude that belonged in a corner diner with neon signs and coffee stains next to the plastic silverware.
On another note, the food was mediocre. I had the Lemon Basil Farfalle and some of the pasta pieces were undercooked and broken. Along with that, there was a mix of real shrimp and frozen shrimp DROWNED in the lemon basil sauce. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $30+.
In sum, this place has definitely gone downhill. Please, I urge you to find another place to eat. If you want to spend a lot of money on a nice dinner, do not come here. It will steal your money and leave you disappointed. I promise you'll be finding yourself on this site writing a terrible review.
The only nice thing about the night was that there was complimentary valet (which doesn't always happen) and it came in handy when I wanted to LEAVE. --There's a reason they didn't win a 2011 recognition award and will not be receiving another in 2012.
bad service

My husband and I went to Tuscany last Saturday night to have couple glasses of wine and talk and spend nice time together. He suggested Tuscany because he knew that Tuscany has a big choice of wine. I drink only Pinot Noir and only french one. That was the reason why we did not go to Oyster bar, they do not serve French Pinot Noir, only Californian one, I guess French is too expensive for Oyster bar? Anyhow...
We had valet to park our car, went into the bar, asked bartender for a glass of Pinot Noir, when he started to pour it, I told my husband that the color looks weird. Tasted it horribly bitter, that happens when the wine is bad quality, or when it sits for a while open and gets bitter. so i told bartender that I would prefer another Pinot Noir. He said this is the only one they sell by glass.
i told him i dont want to be obligated to drink the whole bottle, but this Pinot Noir is bitter and is not drinkable. He was smiling. I love when people smile when you have a request and instead of helping you out or at least pretending that they care, they put a smile on their face and start explaining how what you ask for is impossible, just impossible. so I went to manager, thinking that now, when I will tell manager that I am leaving because of wine, he will send someone downstairs to get wine for me and open it and sell it by glass, especially that the price for a glass is a little more than the cost of the bottle... I happened to know what i drink.... anyway. manager explains to me how impossible is my request to have a normal glass of pinot noir, how there is nothing he can do... how he wishes there was something he could do, but thats just not possible... yes, i now realize i was asking too much... like i came to applebee's and asked them for a premium wine and they just dont have it...anyway. i left. paid 5 dol for parking, ( including 2 dol gratuity to valet) i was upset, i wasted my time, my mood and was very frustrated. luckily my husband suggested to go downtown where we went to the bar at grand america hotel and they poured us hobnob by glass, and i had three glasses and my husband had beer. anyways... we had great time, despite our experience in tuscany. i will make sure all my friends will know how snobby you guys are, and how crappy the service is. i drink pinot noir everywhere where ever i travel and it did not happen once that i got this kind of horrible response to my request to sell me a glass of pinot noir, that you had, but refused to serve me. i understand that one customer more or less does not make difference for you and i clearly saw it when speaking to manager. he did not care to serve me and satisfy me as a customer. but i will make sure to post my review on the facebook
thank you
Milla
bartender is fake, wine is sold only by bottle
by autodetailingutah
fake bartender tried to pour me a glass of wine he said was pinot noir, but actually tasted more like wine that had been sitting for a while and became bitter and the color was different from pinot noir. asked for another one, he said no cannot do unless you buy a bottle of another one. manager is a joke, cannot resolve a HUGE problem i had - pour me a glass of pinot noir. they prefer to lose a customer but not to open a bottle of wine, a glass costs more than a whole bottle in the liquor store. so whats the problem? fake smile and nothing they can do... i did a horrible horrible request, now i understand it, how awful to ask these nice people for a glass of normal wine and where? in the restaurant that is advertising themselves as a place to go for wine.... never go back here.... bye bye tuscany, bye bye fake bartender... bye bye powerless fake manager ... and bye bye crappy service. you guys are full of yourselves
bad. bad. bad. screwed up my mood and wasted my time
by andymemberofchurch
my husband suggested Tuscany for their choice of wine, they do have a lot of choice, but by the bottle only. so if you are not familiar with exact name of wine you want to drink, you are buying overpriced bottle and you are stuck with it. manager is powerless, it is just a dude who says i am sorry and does nothing. sad sad sad. had to go somewhere else, totally pissed off.
Thinking too highly of themselves

We tried Tuscany again after serveral years only to be extremely disappointed. We were there on Sunday night, only to be met with valet only parking for 3$ which was ridiculous considering there were parking spots all over there place. There was no valet when we pulled in so we parked ourself right in front.-but still ended up having to pay for it. Not that the $3 was a big deal it was the principle of it all.
The service was actually okay we had a pleasant waitress but the manager on who was helping out was lacking and forgot to bring us things he said he would.
The food, the food is nothing special and I put it in the same category as Macaroni Grill. This resturant has been around forever and the menu has hardly changed. The quality doesn't match the price. Lastly, the after effects my husband and I experienced within an hour and all the next day for sure wasn't worth it.
I will never go back. This is not a four star resturant just 4 star prices you will be better off at Tuscano's on Pierpont if you want quality 4 star Italian.
