I had Winder Dairy for years when my
children were little. The service was great at first but it got worse as time passed. The outside of the bottles of milk where always dirty and over time were just plain disgusting. I had to wash every bottle every time before putting them in the fridge or else my fridge would get disgusting. Then I had to wash the cooler since the bottles would get the cooler dirty. At first my milk was delivered at 7:00 a.m. over time it started being delivered later and later to finally end up being delivered at 10:00 a.m. after I left for work, so they had to sit outside all day until I got home. Every time I called and complained about the time change they would tell me that the route had changed and that wasn't anything they could do about it.
As for the quality of the milk at first it was great, but like everything else over the years I started getting sour milk, sometimes it just tasted funny, sometimes I would get milk that was about to expired. One time the expiration date of the milk was three day after it was delivered. Every time I called and complained they were always very nice on the phone and told me to just put the bad milk out on the porch the next delivery date and the driver would switch it out. But it just became a hassle. I had to remember to put the cooler outside, then I had to wash every bottle because they were so dirty, then I had to wash the cooler, then a couple of times I had to go to the store to buy milk because the one Winder Dairy delivered was bad.
Finally I just canceled the service. I'm going to the store anyways. It's not like it completely eliminates the need to go to a Walmart or Target. I find myself at one of these stores at least once a week, I'm there buying other things anyways it's easier to just grab milk while I'm there and this way I know the expiration date of my milk before I buy it.
We get the weekly delivery of the
produce box. I am very disappointing by this produce box. When I was sold the box, they said they would first try to add fresh locally grown produce when in season and supplement with non-local items as needed. I have now gone through a whole summer getting this box and still we might get one locally grown item out of about 10 things. Summer boxes should be completely local fresh produce! Last week I got a huge bag of about 15 limes. What the heck am I going to do with 15 limes. The box is lame and I can't cancel due to a fat cancellation fee in the fine print of the contract.
Update: I have now suffered through the entire 40 week contract. Not only was the variety in the box horrible, but the quality was consistently bad. Literally every week I had about 3 rotten things in the box. Of course you don't know on half of them until you cut it open when you are getting ready to use it in a dish that requires that veggie. Now you're left scrambling to try and substitute that veggie or running to the store to replace it and finish the meal. Last week I had 5 avocados and thought I could use them for the Superbowl. The day of the Superbowl comes and I cut the avocados for guacamole and ALL 5 were brown & disgusting. I'm not talking a rare thing here. This was every single week.
I can't believe I hadn't heard of this
before! I had tried some Winder products from the store but had no idea that they offered home delivery. This is so much easier and tastier ;)
The milk is the best I've found but I also love the produce box (all my veggies have been fresh and tasty) and my guilty pleasure, the coffee cake. My family loves it and it's just so easy.
I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years with Winder Farms, from back when they were Winder Dairy. I have always had excellent customer service, the quality of the food is great, and the convenience of having my food delivered right to my porch every week is AWESOME since I work and have kids. No, this isn't the cheapest, but if you are looking for quality food, great service and convenience, this is a great service. Gotta try the milk in the GLASS bottles and the pumpkin ch. chip bread . . . killer!!!
YUCK!. These guys use hard sell techniques to lock you into a contract. You must pay a delivery fee each week AND have a minimum order of $10. If you cancel before 40 deliveries the fee is $60. Their milk is good but we got rotten vegetables. They forget items on our order every single week. The portion sizes are VERY small IE: the smoked mozzarella says it serves four but the portions are only 3 ounces.
Rip off. Dissapointed. They force you to make weekly order not less than $10, plus delivery fee $4, plus cooler deposit, plus registration fee, plus milk bottle deposit. The milk is ok, other products leave much to be desired being called FARMERS. And guess what to cancel you have to pay $30 FEE! Ok, fine ((( Never ever again will I order from them. If you're really whole food fan, look at your local whole food stores. Believe me, winder-dairy is not that great as they say.
Worst experience of my life!!!!
So many things are wrong with this company. I purchased a groupon that they offered
They never explained anything about a 40 delivery permanent contract…..
Then they started bringing stuff that I did not order.
Then when I cancel my account they charged me a $50 cancelation fee
So now I have wasted over 100 dollars total… spread the word they are the worst company ever!!!!
Caution!. Beware. Winder Farms "standing order" policy is confusing and contradictory. Customer service will tell you one thing, the website another. VERY hard to get help. Thought it would be good to support a local business, but they make it very difficult to do business with them. More than happy to order $20-30 a week, but apparently you can't mix and match to your satisfaction. The "standing order" interferes with everything. Don't recommend at all.
Get your taste for nostalgia and milk once or twice a week from this locally owned service..
In Short
Winder Dairy provides biweekly home milk delivery, as well as many of the rest of your grocery and dairy needs--including cheese, yogurt, eggs and juice. Rather than one-time orders, this service is based on a standing order from subscribing customers. Patrons can adjust the frequency and product selection online or by calling the office.
