Known for its breakfasts, this diner chain slings all-American grub and bottomless cups of coffee..
With its kid-friendly vibe, booth seating and late-night hours (most stores are open 24 hours), Denny's draws night owls, seniors and families with kids. The menu sticks to classic American staples: wings, chicken strips, burgers, salads and the like. But breakfast is king, with specialties ranging from skillets, egg scrambles, French toast platters and several variations on the famous Grand Slam: two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, two bacon strips and two sausage links.

Actually, we wouldn't know how the food is here, because we didn't get a chance to taste it. "We" are a mixed-race couple, who showed up late one night hoping to get a good meal. However, we waited in the lobby for thirty minutes and no one would seat us. So, we left.
Although we had suspected it was racism, we weren't sure until we talked to some other nonwhite friends. We only mentioned that we had gone to "Denny's" and hadn't been seated--we didn't mention which one. These friends were quick to ask, "Oh, the one on 3500 South?" Apparently this has happened repeatedly. Consider yourself warned.
