If you're going just for the Chinese food, you're missing ou.
Having lived in Korea for four years, I was so bummed to not be able to find some of my favorite dishes back in the States. I was close to giving up hope until I found Ocean City. The restaraunt is ok, the staff is ok, but the food is AMAZING!
They have a special Korean menu that has all of my "joong shik" favorites like jjajang myun! I ordered the jjajang myun and slipped in to masticatory nirvana.
If you're looking for the 'real' stuff, go to Ocean City. If you've been there and only ordered from the standard menu, you're missing a whole world of deliciousness!
Poor Customer Treatment. I have been going to Ocean City for over 10 years and I am sad to say I will not be going back. Tonight I found a fiber in my food. The waiter was standing right there when I pulled it out, he took it quickly into the back to show to the cook. I proceeded to sit there and listen to the cook and manager yell back and forth, watched the waiter get a fork to poke in my food then come back out. He proceeded to tell me it was my hair because no one there has blonde hair. I also do not have blonde hair. He then asked me if I wanted my food back. No offer of a new dish or a discount. Just the food they had all poked around in back. Needless to say I was disgusted and do not recommend others to go there.
Amazing Chinese and Outstanding Korean. Not only can you get the best authentic Chinese food in town, but Korean and now Thai noodle soups too! And you'll always feel welcomed and looked after by their cute and friendly staff.
Great service and great value!. My husband found the place kind of by mistake and now it is the only place we go for Chinese in Salt Lake City! It is not much to look at both outside and inside and the parking is not great but the food is worth it! For a starter try the fried potstickers! They are the best I have ever had! Beware the chili sauce that comes on the side if you don't like things too hot! For dinner, I would recommend sesame chicken which has never disappointed me! My husband gets different things every time and has loved it all but his favorite has been the kung pao chicken which has just the right amount of kick. Egg drop soup is wonderful and the hot and sour is okay. And the service is fantastic! We get the same waitress almost every time and she is so sweet. Even when we don't get her, the service is always excellent! I would recommend it everyone but just warn you, appearences can be deceiving. Dont judge this book by it's cover! It is great!
Great Chinese in Holliday. We found this place by mistake while looking for a different restaurant. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Friendly service. Chinese food and Utah is no longer an oxymoron. Fried pork dumplings (pot-stickers), chicken with brocolli, and beef with green beans were all excellent. A little too much corn starch in the Hot and Sour soup, but no other complaints. Try it, you'll like it.
Korean styled Chinese Food - just ASK FOR THE KOREAN MENU (You have to ask) Tahng-Soo-Yook! YES!.
So, you've been to Korea, right? Let's say you're an RM (There is practically nobody else that ever goes to Korea for any other reason -eh?) You'd like Some Chinese Food, Korean style, right? THIS IS THE PLACE! When you are in Korea, and you go to a Chinese restaurant, you get stuff that you can't get when you are in America, wanting to go to a Chinese Restaurant. TANG-SUE-Yook? Oh yes, JAJANG-Myung, yep! This is the place, the KEY is, ask for the KOREAN MENU. It's in Korean too. The chef is a Korean, so he wanted to offer both choices, the poor American styled Chinese food, and the real good stuff - the KOREAN Chinese food. I found this restaurant by talking to some Korean's @ the U. I was lamenting that I couldn't find my favorite "korean" food. They said go there. They were right!
Good stuff.
Good food and great service!. If you're looking for a new place to try, I recommend going to Ocean City. Everytime I've gone I've been greeted and seated promptly, service is usually fast even when it's packed. The staff is always friendly and ready to serve your every need. And for anyone that's looking for some great korean food, they have a separate menu with some authentic korean favorites, just ask your waiter about it. Overall, Ocean City is a great place to try it's affordable, good food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Great Food. I have been a cutomer of Ocean City for over 6 years and each time I go there, I am not dissappointed. You will find them to be very clean and have friendly service. The food quality is very good and I can't wait to go back.
A step up from the usual Chinese-American fare that you'll find in Utah..
The Scene
Ocean City serves Chinese food at affordable prices. While Ocean City is located adjacent to one of the city's many minimalls, don't make the mistake of thinking that this restaurant is of the cookie-cutter Chinese takeout variety.
The Food
It's obvious that those responsible for the myriad of choices on the Ocean City menu have a great love of Chinese cuisine. House specialties include sauteed shrimp royal, pepper-salt fried shrimp, sizzling seafood platter, tangerine beef, pepper steak with soybean chicken, and hot-and-sour soup, among others. A large selection of appetizers, soups, family dinners, and vegetarian entrees are also served. Ocean City has a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere, with Chinese food that is a step above frozen carrots drowned in soy sauce.
Just Typical.
This is nothing different than dozens of other Utah Chinese American restaurants and possibly a little worse due to the immense egos of the proprietors.
A definite one to miss and wouldn't be missed if it went out of business. The Jasmine just to the west is a much better choice but still sub standard.
