The Scene
Barbacoa is a clean, casual place with a busy open kitchen right behind the burrito assembly line. There is plenty of seating, and the feel is like an upscale fast-food joint.
The Food
Custom-built burritos and tacos bulging with fresh ingredients. Start with cilantro-lime rice, select black or pinto beans and add to them chicken, steak, barbacoa (slow-cooked shredded beef) or carnitas ($4.95). Other ingredients include grilled peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. Or get everything in a bowl with the tortilla on the side and you've got a burrito bowl ($4.95/tortilla is 65 cents extra)--a little easier to eat than the fat wraps.
Top it all off with one of the flavorful salsas. The red-chile tomatillo sauce is hot and spicy. Roasted chile-corn salsa has medium heat and chopped tomatoes and red onion make up the mild salsa.

I love Barbaco. The food is always fresh and the flavors blend so well. I eat here ever time I am in town. Great for lunch and dinner. Not fancy just good and healthy.

The food is still pretty good, but it has become WAY overpriced and the serving sizes keep getting smaller and smaller. They're half what they were originally. I don't feel the need to personally finance their further expansion. There are plenty of other places out there that offer good, reasonably priced fare.

Clean, kid friendly, large portions, reasonable price, no lines, nice buildings, discounts to HRO, highly recommended
