Tips for Canton Village

Best Chinese Food in the Valley and its CHEAP!. We've been going to Canton Village for about two years now. By "been going" I mean we order take out about once a week (seriously) and then drive all the way across town from West Valley to Murray past about a hundred other Chinese places to pick it up and then drive all the way home to eat it. Its that good.

The quality of the food is unbelievable but subtle. It really doesn't hit you till you eat somewhere else and things like "this rice is so bland compared to Canton's" or "This shrimp is so much more greasy than at Canton Village" go through your mind. This is what has kept us coming back week after week.

The service is always great. Most of the time it's the owner behind the counter working his ass off. I like seeing the proprietor of an establishment working behind the counter and not behind a desk making money of everyone else's sweat.

The best part is the price. We usually order the A dinner for two, with an extra order of Sweet 'n' sour pork (my favorite). We eat till we are stuffed to the gills and we both have a huge lunch for the next day and all for about $25 or less.

I really cant say enough about them. Top Notch!

Not So Great. We have ordered from here a couple times now. The first time we ordered I had a problem with the eggrolls. They are HUGE and VERY greasy and it was like the inside part of the roll was doughy and weird. But it wasn't too big of a deal and I ate the rest of my food (Moo Goo Pan - which was a little bland but probably the best thing they have along with the Crab Rangoon's) and so we order this next time and I wanted something spicy so I ordered the General Tsao Chicken and it was not good at all. It had a taste like the base of the sauce was sweet and sour sauce, and it wasn't spicy at all whatsoever. I hate sweet and sour chicken/pork so you can imagine my reaction to this.

Personally the only things I would ever consider ordering from here again are the Moo Goo pan and Crab Rangoons. I don't even like the rice, its not really fluffy like the rice I know. Maybe I have high standards, or maybe it really just sucks... but I personally am not a fan.

But the staff is SO friendly and they do try their best.

I will never eat here again!. I tried Canton Village for the first time and I will never eat there again. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, potstickers, and white rice. The food arrived quickly, and the employees were friendly. This was about the only pleasant part of our experience with Canton Village. Nothing was horrible, but I've definitely had better chinese food. We discovered halfway through the meal that some of the pork was severely undercooked. Later on that evening both my partner and I began to feel sick, and shortly after he began to projectile vomit consistently for several hours. I don't know how common this problem is for Canton Village's customers, but it was enough for me to discourage anyone from eating there. The food is not worth the risk.

Never Again!. I've probably eaten there 10 times. Sometimes the food is really good and other nights it tastes differently. I ordered the sesame chicken and I noticed the cook in the back with a really bad cough. It sounded like he was about to cough up a lung. He didn't cover his mouth. It looked liked he was coughing down at my food he was preparing but I couldn't tell since my view was partially blocked. I wanted to walk out but I already paid for my meal.

I took my meal home and it didn't taste very fresh. The food didn't seem as hot (temperature-wise) as it normally was on previous visits. It still tasted okay so I ate it anyway. Big mistake! Without getting into too many details let's just say I spent the majority of the next day in the bathroom. It took 48 hours until I felt back to "normal". From now on if I want to eat Chinese food I will take my business to his competitors. I don't care if I pay $2 more for the dinner. It was not worth what my body experienced.

Poor Customer Service. This is one of the worst exeperiences I have had in a long time. I called 30 minutes before they closed with an order that would have been about $35.00 before tax, delivery charge, and tip. I was told that they wouldn't deliver to me because the driver wanted to go home, when I asked "so you won't do any deliveries?" I was told no, they were getting ready to leave. I work for another company that delivers and even if a customer calls one minute before we close we still take their order and take them their food. I used to call on a regular basis as did my co-workers. I will tell everyone I know about this and suggest they find another chinese restaurant as I did.

Liked their food but will no longer order because of their lack of concern for their customers.

Avoid at all costs. We love good chinese food and after seeing Canton Vilalge one evening, we decided to get takeout. Never again! we oredered the Mongolian beef which was okay as the vegetables were great. the beef itself was good. This was the only dish that was actually edible. We also ordered the sweet and sour chicken, beef fried rice, peking spare ribs and fried wontons.

Sweet and sour chicken was absolutely revolting. The chicken was so dry as well as it literally tasted as if it had been soaking in stale oil for several days. I spat out the one piece I tried to eat. The wife and daughter also agreed that it was dry and over saturated with stale oil.

Peking spare ribs were okay but very heavy with ginger as I could not eat more than one piece.

The fired wontons were the most disgusting as they had apparently been fried several hours if not days ago. Over half of them were literally very dark brown or black from being over fried. These as well had too much ginger in them.

Overall, yes, the people were very nice but this is the worst chinese food we have ever had. The chinese deli in Smiths or a grocery center has been far better. I used to think that Panda Express sucked but they rock now. I will NEVER go back to Canton Village.

Best place to have your food catered. I had several parties catered, and have to say, they are the BEST. They are courteous, generous in food quantity, and fully prepared------of course excellent food taste. I never had to worry about anything.

Great for lunch!. I had ordered take-out a few days ago and thought it was good, solid Chinese food. Every place has an off night once in a while; I would definitely recommend the Canton Village to friends. Give it a shot!

one word: disgusting. I ordered take-out and was so disappointed. The sesame chicken had tiny bones in it, even the fortune cookies were stale! It was also over-priced. Not one thing was satisfactory.
