A breeze-swept, links-style layout with a noisy neighbor: Salt Lake City International Airport..
The Course
Wingpointe lies between the airport and Interstate 80--perhaps not the most alluring location. Sometimes the racket from Salt Lake International or the freeway intrudes, but Wingpointe's integration of marshes, wetlands and waste bunkers offers a challenging contrast to the typical northern Utah course. And the view of the Wasatch River is awesome.
The Experience
Stray from the short grass and you'll turn Wingpointe from a flat, par-72 track into a moundy one involving tricky lies and stances. Berms line the fairways and surround the greens, and there are plenty of sand traps and native vegetation--Utah's version of gorse--to snatch wayward balls. Water is an imposing feature on more than half the holes on the course, which plays 6,665 yards from the blue tees.
