The Scene – In a ramshackle building standing on about an acre of bare dirt on north Beck Street, Swedetown Pub looks salt-worn, as if the building were rescued from the set of Popeye. Inside is an unremarkable beer bar with pool tables and dart machines, but it has a decidedly menacing atmosphere. Yes, Swedetown is a little menacing, but come on. There is a certain flavor about this place. Be interesting and the regulars will be interested. Be a problem and you will get the same. Kip (the owner) manages a good bar. Mary and Larry (bartenders) are two of a kind. Give it a chance.
