La Morena Cafe -- FABULOUS MEXICAN FOOD. Whenever I eat Mexican food, especially chicken or cheese enchiladas, I compare them to the consistently delicious food at "La Morena Cafe." In my opinion, the other places may look fancy, but this family owned and run cafe beats the others by miles and miles.

It's easy to find, on the north side of North Temple. There are photos of friends and family, and old signs tacked to the wall, and I love it! When we have the money to go out for a nice lunch or dinner, this is where I want to go.

The portions are large (I usually eat half of the meal, then the rest the next day). As I said, the enchiladas are divine, the beans perfectly cooked, the tortillas tender, and the SAUCE--I don't know how they do it--makes my mouth water whenever I think about it!

Every time I go to "La Morena," I think I will try something else, but I just can't do it. My family loves the other dishes, I think they have tried them all!

My family and I have followed "La Morena Cafe" from two previous locations (15+ years ago). And as long as they stay in northern Utah, I will be visiting...trying to decide between chicken or cheese enchiladas.

La Morena is the best!. My husband and I discovered this small restaraunt about 5 years ago by word of mouth from a mutual friend. Ever since trying this restaraunt we have been hooked by the friendly family who owns and runs La Morena and the superb food. The restaruant itself is small but very charming and the service is unbeatable. Manuel can serve up the best plate of "authentic" mexican food in short order. The small combination platter is to die for if you are hungry. If you love enchiladas, the rich brown sauce is a welcome change to your standard red sauce. The tamales are fabulous and the chile verde smothered burritos are also excellent. The rice is full of flavor, fluffy and light. If you haven't tried La Morena you better...what are you waiting for?
