Very good food AWFUL service.
Ive waited till I'd been to Big Kahuna's pizza three times before I wrote this review. First off the food is generally very good; fresh crusts, fresh toppings, etc. but the preparation can be very uneven, Ive had a pizza prepared very well and I've had one that was nearly burned.
But, and this is a major qualification, DO NOT bother to order to-go or delivery. Last time I ordered to go over the phone it took more than 45 minuets 'till I could take it home, today I decide to try again. I was told on the phone my COLD sandwich would be ready in 20-25 minuets; 45 minuets later I was still waiting.
This is not an isolate incident. On the Fourth of July we decide to order in and I still thought my one poor Big Kahunas experience was a one-off thing. After waiting on hold for 15 minuets my order was take by some one who's English were spotty to say the least. He could not seem to grasp that I was ordering two pizzas and kept insisting on trying to putt all the toppings on one pie. Once that was finally cleared up, not without a good deal of teeth gritting on my part, I was told 30-40 minuets. An hour later I called and was told (with no extraneous courtesy) that it would be any time now. At 2 hours and 15 minuets the ice-cold pizzas arrived. The drive explained that the management had not figured on a holiday and had the same staff (one driver) that they would have had on any Tuesday. I felt very sorry for the driver and disgusted with the management.
Summation: the pizzas are very good, but not good enough to make the abysmal service worth the aggravation. Go to Wasatch pizza, the extra 20-25 minutes can be spent just as well in your car as waiting for Kahuna's.
A virtual melting pot of the world of pizza..
The Scene
Pizza used to be considered strictly an Italian creation: something that was was limited to tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and meats. But then someone got the bright idea to add pineapple to their Canadian bacon and suddenly the traditional pizza took on a Polynesian flair. But why stop at pineapple?
The Food
At Big Kahuna's Pizza-N-Stuff, you will see the metamorphosis that the plain old pizza has undergone. Take for example the Sumo Pizza, teriyaki sauce with green onions, pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, Kaluah pig, bacon, mushrooms, black olives, etc. The Kaluah pig is slow-roasted pork cooked in the traditional pit style with Polynesian spices.
