The Scene
A cozy downtown restaurant, The Soup Kitchen's dining room is functional and Formica. The menu and daily specials are chalked in on blackboards above the counter where you place your orders, quickly filled by an efficient staff.
The Food
Nothing fancy, but honest flavors at reasonable prices. Soup, of
course, made fresh daily. Tomato and the broccoli and cheese
are favorites, with a cool, spicy gazpacho for the summer. Generous sandwiches pair well with the soups--the deli and Italian subs have lots of meaty
flavor, the egg, tuna, and chicken salads offer a tasty change of
pace. Or try a soup and dessert combo, with fresh carrot cake.
A salad bar, Malibu chicken, burgers, and real onion rings round
out the menu, with bread sticks adding to the hearty soup
choices. Daily specials are an even better bargain.

I really enjoy The Soup Kitchens food. It's really good, i crave the SKS. But the girls that work there are rather unfriendly. Of the 5 - 6 that are always working when i go in only one of them ( the girl who gets the soup)is ever pleasant, and always has a smile. The rest of them have bad attitudes and disgusted looks on their faces. which makes it rather unpleasant to interact with them. The environment is rather cold and uninviting itself. But the food is definetly worth all the unpleasantness. just call ahead and get it to go!

Yes it was true that the girls there thought that they had something to show. But's that has all changed now that I moved back to Salt Lake City. My farther trusted in his crew to put their best foot forward. It seems that when you get older, all they want to do is take from you. What a shame. So one day, he drove to San Francisco and ask me to hop in his car, next thing I new we were on on way to Salt Lake. He said son take a look and tell me what you see. A buch of worn down restaurants that he's been trying to maintain over the last 30 years. So he sold me and my wife the 33rd operation, and once the girls found out that I wasn't here to for fun and games. Things changed, sorry about the eye full. All the reviews I read about Soup Kitchen keeps saying the thing. Foods Great, Help s#@Ks. Well let me say what really matters, OUR CUSTOMERS ARE GREAT. As for the help, I've coined the phrase PROFESSIONAL DELI WORKERS and I think that some of them believe it's true. One things for sure, if they were doing their jobs correct, I would still be in SF. As for the Food, Yes it is home made product. We have a crew that starts every morning at 3:00am to make sure we offer only the best. And as all small business owner I to have a goal to help correct any wrongs and misunderstandings that might have accured. Again, that you for all of your support. Look for things to change.

Good food, but a girl that works there was not wearing much today. My husband happened to look over at the exact time she was bending down to get some breadsticks, and well, she wasnt wearing anything under her tiny shirt and he got an eyefull. If we wanted to see that kind of thing, we would have gone to a strip club for lunch.
