Editorial Review for Utah Museum of Fine Arts – by Jason Esplin
The Scene
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts offers a collection of more than 15,000 works from all over the world, spanning many styles and periods. The 74,000-square-foot Marcia and John Price Museum Building (completed June 2001) houses more than 20 galleries. The interior is spacious, warm and elegant, with a beautiful upper colonnade and earth-toned walls. Besides the galleries, patrons wander through the bookstore, study center, sculpture terrace and Fine Arts Cafe.
The Collection
In addition to the rotating series of collections housed at the museum, UMFA also dedicates space to traveling exhibits. You may find anything from ancient African masks to a display of contemporary American women's photography.
