Gallery Vibe
Although the Atrium Gallery has been located on the third floor of the Salt Lake City Public Library for several decades, the space wasn't designed for exhibitions, so the floor space is limited (you won't find any sculpture here). But there are plenty of walls, so the Atrium sometimes features two artists. The atrium that gives the gallery its name fills the third floor with natural lighting.
Exhibits
The shows rotate eight times a year and often feature emerging Utah artists. Because it's a nonprofit gallery, its mission is to educate the public and expose people to the arts, rather than to sell pieces. But the Atrium has boosted the careers of many local artists. And who knows? Maybe a fleeting encounter with art will inspire the guy who wrote "Love 2 Hate" in the commentary book to be a little kinder and gentler.
