Tips for Pictureline Inc

February 23, 2013

I recently got a T2i for Christmas and was already way over my head. I have taken two photography classes at Pictureline and I already feel like maybe I can use my DSLR as more than an upgraded "point and click". I have compared their prices on lens and bags and they seem to be pretty competitive with other sites and local stores. Their staff has been really friendly and helpful. I can't wait until my next class and I trust that I will be making more visits to Pictureline.

Even with a bad experience I'm the first to give credit where credit is due. They have a clean, professional (looking) store with a wide selection and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with the return policy. My complaint comes in the form of assistance I received from the two sales persons I dealt with in the last few months. Durring the first of these visits I was floored with how condescending the salesman was. According to him I "didn't know what I was looking for". I honestly thought this guy have walked in off the street and was posing as a employee. I kindly thanked him for the assistance and continued to stop by myself.

I visited again recently to purchase a newly released camera body I'd been waiting for, and I had almost a repeat experience. After explaining my purpose for visiting and being shown the body, the employee explained to me the existent of their experience and how qualified they were to make my purchase decision for me. Two ridiculous employees was one too many for me. After that I've been not so surprised to find other friends with very similar experiences at Pictureline. At least two have been shopping their for many years and recently decided the bad experience is not worth the convenience of this local store.

Pictureline Inc.. Before purchasing something you should be aware of the refund policy. No cash refunds, you get a gift card for the store. No exceptions. They have great stuff and the staff although hard to get to help you are friendly and knowledgable when you finally catch one. The store is geared towards the high end market so if you are looking at lower end items you may have to wait awhile to get help.

Pictureline return policy. I do not agree with Picturelines return policy. They will give you in store credit but not a cash refund. So if your looking for a store that gives you a satisfaction guarantee and returns your money, go to Inkley's or shop on line.

They know their business and want to help!. Recently I made the plunge and upgraded all my equipment; Canon 5D Mark ii, and several lenses. Prior to the upgrade I was using Canon's xsi and found that I truly loved photography. Now that I have been shooting for 3 years and finally had my first professional opportunity I realized that my equipment was just not going to meet my future needs. I spent a great deal of time researching the various camera and lens lines, but I was still nervous about making the investment. When I went into Pictureline I met with with Dave Ward. Dave immediately helped me feel confident about what I was setting out to accomplish and assured me that my lack of technical expertise was not a flaw but rather a great opportunity for me to learn. I found that I began to feel more like a student than a want to be photographer. Pictureline's staff, in my eyes, are extremely professional, genuine, patient and are the elite of the photography industry in SLC. Thank you for all your help! Sharlene Evans.

PICTURELINE! Need I say more!. i have been buying my photography equipment at pictureline since the days of their old 2nd east store next to borge anderson. it doesn't matter what I need, weather its coming in to drool over the new 7D that I cant quite afford yet, getting my sensor cleaned, or picking up odds and ends supplies, I feel at home.

Its nice to know most all of the staff, if not all by name, at least by face and to be recognized when i come in.

if you are a photographer in the mountain west and you are shopping any other place, you are doing a discredit to the art of photography.

If you are an online shopper and have not looked close at Pictureline's website then you are missing not only a great shopping experience, that includes a great comparison feature and easy search features, but a complete online community that includes the ability to post a portfolio, look at other photographers work and search through page after page of online photography how-to's, tutorials and tips/tricks created by the in store staff. there truly is no online or offline reseller doing what pictureline is doing

Best Photographic store in Utah!. I purchased my Canon 7D from Pictureline rather than thru the internet because local service and support was important to me. Prices and selection were competetive, but what "sold" me is the staff service and knowledge.

My questions are always courteously answered and I love my shopping experience every time I go into the store.

Pictureline has a great selection of products and equipment and they offer continuing education on cameras and techniques.

I don't bother shopping anywhere else.

Pictureline Knows their Stuff. I have been shopping at pictureline for years. I am not a professional, but I love to take pictures. They always know how to answer my questions. The employees not only know about the product, but they don't make me feel like I am wasting their time. I would recommend pictureline to anyone wanting a camera or wanting to know more about their camera.

Buyer Beware!. I, like many of my colleagues am willing to pay extra to buy local, especially when customer service and support are not only needed but necessary. That's exactly what I've been making purchases for many years at Pictureline. But not any more.

The staff at Pictureline is more than willing to help with a purchase but if you have issues with your purchase, you'll get better results hitting your head against the wall. This includes their upper management who have been completely unresponsive to my problems.

If you want this kind of service, you might as well purchase your equipment from one of the big discounters and save a ton of money.

Maybe they are growing too fast. Maybe they are too distracted with their new store. Customer service at Pictureline has gone down the tubes and in my opinion, is not worth the premium I pay over B&H, Adorama, Samys, Beach or any other major player in the market.

It's a bummer there isn't another high end photography store in the Salt Lake area. Maybe there's an opportunity for someone out there.
