AMAZING VINTAGE CLOTHING STORE. I had the pleasure of dealing with the owner and the sales staff of this amazing vintage clothing store for more than 18 months and plan to continue this association for many years to come. The entire store holds deals and treasures that you will not find anywhere else. Check it out.
Wouldn't dare go anywhere else for vintage!.
Upon entry of Decades, I was surprised by the quantity of unique finds and the broad selection. Decades has so many wonderful pieces, and a darling store cat.
To address the owner of Decades, I found that most of the reviews posted here were completely negative, and I suspect exaggeration about him "stalking" customers. For a little while I thought so too, but he was just trying to find places to hang new (sort of) merchandise. He might have seemed a little snooty, but how can you not be prideful of a collection such as his?
My mother that came with me to the store was even able to find a pair of up-the-ear earrings that were nearly identical to the ones she had inherited from her grandmother and broken years ago! Great find.
I had a wonderful first experience with Decades, and I can guarantee you I will be back for more.
My favourite place to shop. Decades is the best vintage store in utah. The prices are very good and the owner is awesome. I dont know what people are talking about saying the owner is rude. Im in there every week and i always have a good experience. Maybe he is sick of people just playing dress up. I would be upset to if people were trying to squeeze themselves in clothes that are too small.
MEAN OWNER!. So, I'm only 13, going on 14. But I am a real lover of vintage. I had heqrd about the store, and I knew I wanted to go. I saved up 40 dollars (which took lots of hard work and time!) so I could shop there. I was about to walk in when I was stopped by an employee and told I had to have a parent with me. I was wearing a playsuit from the 50's! They really shouldn't assume that all tennagers are going to be destructive. I understand some are, but that isn't a fair judgement to make, just based on age. So I got my mom to go with me. We walked in and had to leave our bags with them, so we wouldn't steal! And the owner was a jerk and acted like I didn't deserve vintage clothing and I was some idiot. The shop kitty was super duper cute though :3 Beautiful clothing too. I found lots of unique treasures that I LOVE! The staff was very mean though.
Caught off guard.
I was first caught off guard by the fact that the reviews of the owner of this store were correct. I was as polite as possible as I heard he was a grouch. I even let him put my purse behind the counter so it was clear I couldn't steal anything, and he was still very rude. Acted like he didn't want anyone there.
But enough about him... their selection is AMAZING, all classics. Brand name bags for forty dollars and under... crazy, crazy boots and jewelry selection. They have anything vintage you could possibly ask for, and their prices blew me away. I bought a real vintage Prada bag for forty dollars today!
The selection is worth putting up with the awful owner! Don't leave out of spite! ; )
Amazing Vintage, Annoying Customers. I moved to SLC a couple of years ago from Los Angeles, and have been buying and wearing vintage for 15+ years now. Decades is, by far, the best vintage shop I've ever had the pleasure of stumbling upon. The prices are great and the range of eras, styles, and sizes is wonderful. It is a huge store with a great jewelry and accessories selection, as well as hundreds of amazing vintage hats. To address the previous complaints about the 'rude' owner... Why don't you all try owning a vintage store and having your merchandise trashed by giggling, disrespectful teenagers? Or have poorly attended toddlers ripping the hems of 1930's gowns. The owner of Decades clearly loves vintage and has the respect for these pieces that have managed to survive 40, 50, 60 years. He is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his collection for future generations to enjoy, including the loss of a few unappreciative customers. Why don't you all get off of your 'the customer is always right' high horses and realize that you have a top-notch vintage store in your little town (which by the way, draws an international clientele, including costumers and stylists) and show some much-deserved appreciation for the fact that he hasn't closed his doors and just sell all of his stuff on e-bay for way more money than you are all willing to pay without all of your hassle and criticism!
Uhh.
They do have an awesome selection of EVERYTHING... Nothing here you can't find somewhere else with a little time to search.
I held my baby while browsing and I thought he was going to ask me to leave by the way he watched me and paced back and forth. I guess they either thought I was stealing or they were nervous that my kid would slobber all over their stuff... either way - it bothered me.
I spent quite a while searching for an outfit and I feel like that made them even more suspicious of me.
PS - I just called and asked what their hours were. All he said was "We're only open 'til 6" but the tone he said it with meant, "Don't even think about coming in, we're only open for 30 more minutes and don't want to deal with you"
I was hoping they were just having a bad day...but... seems that's not the case.
Why do you own a store if you don't want people to shop there? BOOOO!
Selections Great For Costumes, Owner Needs some Manners. Any period piece after 1900 you're doing, you can make costumes here. However Everything I've heard and experienced there has indicated that the owner isn't very nice. He was quite rude to me and my friends, has followed us around, and treated us like theives when we were actually there, and about to buy something, when he wouldn't just let us be human beings, so we, out of spite, left without buying anything, and we would only go back if we really needed costumes for a movie or photoshoot, and if we couldn't find it elsewhere first.
Owner is Very Very Rude, clothes are overpriced..
The owner looks like Perez Hilton (the blogger) and he acts very self righteous and entitled to everything in the store, like it's his own personal collection of rare star wars collector glasses or something. His clothing selection is nice, but nothing the DI can't brag about better. The owner is terribly rude, and frankly it's hurting his client base. Being one in many social circles hurting one customer who dresses eccentric hurts us all, and I'm sure without whomever actually funds his store behind him, he'd be out by now with how his attitude is towards people.
Serious just go to the DI or Thrift Town, because they at least treat you with dignity and respect, and they're prices are cheaper.
Owner must be milking his parents for money.
Because there is no way he could possibly stay afloat in this economy with the way he treats his customers. I've read the previous reviews and it seems unless you are an older male (in your 40s or so), you will be attacked by this proprietor who is in need of serious medicating.
I did find his cat very endearing and friendly however n_n
