Missing the Original...... This has been my favorite restaurant for years. We moved out of state for a year and just returned there last night. The food was very heavy and greasy, and my favorite dessert (the tiramisu) was completely different. The prices are up, the atmosphere was more trendy and the service was disappointing. What happened to the previous owners?
NEW Owner and all of a sudden it's a much better place. I also heard that the waiters don't receive their tips at this restaurant and decided not to go there anymore, although I really liked that place. Last week I was downtown during lunch and decided to give it one more shot. Turns out the place has a new owner now. He is a very friendly and pleasant person -- an extreme improvement from the previous owners. Anyone who would never go back to this place because of the owners should give it one more shot! The staff is also very polite and friendly now that they are actually being taken care of properly. The food is very good. I suggest you try their bean soup or pizza, both are really good. They have some very nice European beer that everyone must try. My daughter got an Italian soda and absolutely loved it! We absolutely love this place.
Worst service and rooten food!!! and stuff likes too lie.. Whats wrong with you people,do you really want service and european food.Well I do not know what makes you think this terrible place and its owners Miro and his lady(she can do something with her knowldge)but him,I do not know when was SLVHD last time in visit, but they should go there, more specific, they must go there!!!!!!.Do you people look what are eating there, well take a look.!!!!! They are noit even opening place on time and they seating in front instead to open place, even after 30 mins of time that place was still closed. They have very lazy stuff!
great place now with new owner. This place was always good but now with new ownership is even better, much more friendlier and the staff works much harder and better. Go there to see it for you self plus you are going to love a real Mediterranean food.
great place with great food and good people. as former server for two years in Atlantic during my school I have experienced only good from owners (sometimes overworked with every aspect of running restaurant ).YES Owners take tip after but divide with all personall , even pay is European way. I was Starting with $10 pro hour + part of tip (every else pay under $3 +tip) and owner is great with advances, everytime I needed I can borow ,even first month I have problem with car and owners help me, so you need to know more...Yes I have experienced some direct and in moment rude word from owners (I was redy to leave) but every time with reason .Don't forget this people come from European Mediterran and food play big roll in everyday life . With passion tastes better.
Cecilia W, the reason the owners give better service....
(in your opinion) might be, because they pocket all tips
made my themselves and their wait staff.
I used to frequent this establishment often during
the spring and summer season, until i was made aware
of this by an adorable young waitress a couple years back.
As i noticed the owner picking up her tips on the surrounding tables on a busy lunch shift,
I asked if she would be the one receiving the(generous and deserving) tip, if i left it for her, and she said 'no',
so i insisted she take it from me personally.
She refused and said she would 'get into alot of trouble' if she were to accept it.
I don't see how the owners sleep at night, treating
their staff in such a way.
I will never return.
If owners aren't there-don't go !!!.
I was thanked by my friends for years as to recommending them to Atlantic grill. However, that has changed in the last year and a half....I didn't believe it myself until I went there 4 times just to prove that it had gone down hill and for one reason only "When the cats are away the mice will play".
The owners are great, their son is adorable (and smart) but ONLY GO if the owners are there and they are the ones helping you !!! The girl (woman???) they have had serving is rude (she walked away while I was still placing my order) and the cook they have when they are gone is horrible !!! I mean horrible ! She got all of our standards totally WRONG. As far as the server goes, I had to yell at her to get her attention, she is one of those people that you have to be mean to verbally before they pay attention to you or treat you with any deciency.
By all means, GO IF THE OWNERS ARE THERE AND HELPING YOU !!!! IF NOT LEAVE ,LEAVE RIGHT AWAY !!!! BTW the food is GREAT but only if the owners are there !!!
best food & original European place in town.

Extremely Rude and Inhumane!.
I used to work downtown, a block from the Atlantic Cafe, and would frequently dine in for lunch. The food has always been “just okay”, and the service...well, it has NEVER been anything special. This last weekend I was passing by the restaurant with my partner after we had attended a downtown event. My partner who has had several medical issues this year very quickly became ill and needed the relief of a restroom as soon as possible. This was not an issue of "just holding it", it was a matter of intense pain and could have been life threatening. We walked into the restaurant looking for the restroom and were immediately confronted by an employee asking if she could help us. The tone in her voice was awfully less-than-friendly. I simply asked her if there was a restroom that we could use. Her reply was a very sharp "NO". I explained to her that my partner was extremely ill and that it was an extreme emergency. The employee was incredibly rude and treated us as if we were less than human. I offered to purchase something, and even offered her money. She snapped back that she could not help us because the owner of the Atlantic Café was somewhere in the building. So I asked to speak to the owner. To no avail, we were pushed out the door as if we were beggars. I have never been treated so inappropriately and so impolitely.
My partner was experiencing severe stomach pains and asked to be driven to the emergency room. Unable to wait another second my partner was forced to relieve himself behind a tree down the street from the Atlantic Cafe. I stood on the street watching for passers, so I could warn him if someone was coming. I listened to him crying as he hide behind the tree. He was humiliated and still very ill. I was heartbroken and infuriated.
I understand the right that all restaurants have to reserve the restroom for their guests only. It is not a public restroom, it belongs to the Atlantic Café. The Atlantic Café stocks it and keeps it clean. However, the Atlantic Café and it’s employees also have the choice of how to treat their customers and potential customers. It was not a matter of not being able to use the restroom, it was the fact that neither my partner or myself have ever been treated in such a manner that made us feel less than human, discriminated, and rejected.
I am sharing this experience with all 436 of my friends on facebook. If they have half the friends I have, then this experience with the Atlantic Cafe will be relayed to over 102,896 people within a day. And if they share this with their friends, it will reach at least 20,579,200 people within a week. Let this be a warning to all who work in the hospitality industry, as I do, that in this modern day of communication, no one can afford poor publicity. And to you, Atlantic Cafe, I will continue sharing this story of your extreme lack of humanity and hospitality until your doors are closed for good.
