Beware: Better check what they make for you!.
I saw the review where they made the wrong cake for a birthday party, then told the customer they would not "make it right" unless they brought the cake back (right, take the cake away from 5 year
olds & say, sorry!).
Well, I ordered a cake for my daughter who goes to school in Salt Lake City (I now live near Atlanta). I was explicitly clear in my instructions for what I wanted. The young girl took the order down correctly, but the baker screwed it up & they made the wrong cake for my daughter's birthday.
When I call back, the same girl who took the order confirmed my order correctly, but her manager said that they would only "make it right" if she brought back more than half the cake...! Wow, far from the Customer-friendly policy! THEY screwed up and admitted such, but their company policy is to put the burden on the Customer because they know most people won't immediately stop a party or function just to bring back a cake.
So just be careful when you buy anything from this place. I'm sure the staff is friendly, I'm sure Mrs Backer is nice, but their Customer Satisfaction policies are firmly rooted in the yesteryear - a business' actions firmly reflect the attitudes & feelings of their management.
Just beware if anything is not exactly to what you specified... If you just go in & buy a gingerbread cookie, you should be safe, but when instructions get any more complicated than that...…
...wow. Not sure how there can be a bad review on Bakers. My mother used to go to church down the street from Bakers. Every day after church, her father and mother would meet up at bakers with her and her sister and they would buy a gingerbread cookie. Now, anytime someone is in Utah, they bring us back a bakers cake or 2 dozen gingerbread cookies. It is the best bakery.…
Best Customer Service. I don't know what you are talking about. Backers never yell at anybody. They have some of the best customer service of any of the stores I have gone into. I never wait more that a minute until someone is there HAPPY to see me. Mrs. Backer is a 60 year old lady. She does not go around doing all the things you say. Get a life! I commend any business that has been in this city as long as they have. They MUST be doing something right.…
Glad Other Bakeries Have Opened.
I would never recommend Backer's Bakery to anyone, there are so many other charming bakeries in town now with people that are actually HAPPY to see you when you come through the door! I don't like
going somewhere where even the owner treats you badly. The cupcakes weren't great, I know they are the trend now so Backer's has jumped on board, I don't blame them for that, but there are darling cupcake shops in town with fantastic baked goods and great employees.
All I can say is steer clear of Backer's!…
Why are you yelling at me, I'm your customer!. I used to come to Backer's as a little girl and have always had fond memories but have lived out of town for years. I came to visit Backer's Bakery for out of pure nostalgia but popped into the art gallery next store first- when I came out, I was met by Mrs. Backer herself, yelling that I was parked in HER parking lot- well I am HER customer! Or WAS, at least. It makes me sad because I held Backer's in such high regard, but I will NEVER visit there again.…
