All of them are excellent, but the peanut butter milk choc candies are splendid! They have just a sprinkle of sea salt on top that really sets them off. I'm waiting for them to begin shipping so I can send to friends on the east coast. I'm very particular, and these chocolates are nothing short of special!
Not impressed.
I work right near Hatch's new location next to LDS hospital. I used to be right near another chocolate store on 7th & 9th next to Liberty Park, and it's been years since I bought any chocolates from them or anywhere else. Watched this new Hatch location being built and thought I'd stop in there last night after work.
I was really disappointed. For one thing, the price was $1.60 for one little piece of chocolate. I love chocolate just as much as the next person but to me, there is Bad Chocolate and Good Chocolate, and of the Good Chocolate, there's not a real lot of variation or great "degrees". I think putting a very high price on what is going to be Good Chocolate is a bit presumptuous when just starting out.
I decided to go with what I knew for sure I'd like: Vanilla Cream ... remembering that texture and taste of running my tongue around the inside hollow shell of a piece of dark chocolate for that one dollop of creamy vanilla. Not possible with theirs. Theirs is a chalky white paste filling, not creamy not runny in the least, even a little dry. Did I just get a "lemon" vanilla cream instead? Maybe so. It had the nearly identical consistency to the mint of a giant York Peppermint Pattie!? That's fine for what it is, but it's certainly not "creamy"!
Great Choclates. I came all the way from San Antonio with my wife's payroll conference to have a great experience with Steve hatch and his Choclates shop.I had an assortment of chocolate s candys that were scrupulous .Steve even took time out of busy schedule to take a picture with me.
Great Chocolate. This is a great little chocolate house. I feel lucky to have them in our neighborhood and it's a wonderful delight whenever I send these chocolates out to family. All I've ever gotten was rave reviews from people when they get a little chocolate from me here in SLC, and its thanks to Hatch Family Chocolates!
Oh my goodness. . ..
Being I life long resident of the Salt Lake County area, I had never heard of Hatch Family Chocolates, until the release of their TV Show. "The Little Chocolatiers" . After seeing this we were intrigued and had to try it!
We were greeted by the wonderful sweet aroma of chocolate and greeted by a smiling Steve, the owner, as we passed in the door way. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly.
The chocolates, regardless of the flavor was smooth, creamy and truly decedent. It will certainly be the go to place for gifts in the future.
The only thing that would have made this any better, would being able to spend more time there! And obviously discovering it sooner! AWESOME!
bad. i was dissapointed to see that the managers"hatches" were not appt to hiring a woman who had type 1 diabetes who was not ale to eat much of the hocolate with out insulin( ig )
Best Desserts in SLC. I thought I'd had the best key lime pie ever, until I had the Hatch Family key lime pie. Rich, tangy and thick, with a graham cracker crust, their key lime pie is outrageous! Not to be outdone by the Pot De Creme. WHOA!!!! Seriously, I wanted to die......in a good way.
Best hot chocolate, and hand dipped chocolates!. Hatches has the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Everytime I come to Salt Lake, (I live in Chicago), I visit the store! I would highly recommend Hatches to anyone looking for great chocolate exprience in Salt Lake City. Family owned, hand crafted chocolate traditions, handed down from generations.
Editorial Review. Family-owned spot caters to chocoholics in search of Guittard Dark Chocolate hand-dipped treats.
The best chocolates anywhere. Certainly the best chocolate in Utah and among the best in the US. (Having lived in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia, I feel reasonably confident in this statement.) Selections change from day to day, but the great and friendly service does not. Also sells wonderful ice cream. Prices are fair.
