Editorial Review for Bonneville Golf Course – by Robyn Galbos
The Course
Ten minutes ago you were fighting traffic on Foothill Boulevard. But once you're on Bonneville's elevated first tee, the hordes of downtown and University of Utah commuters seem a thousand miles away. This well-tended, tree-lined course winds for 180 acres through a quiet neighborhood on the city's eastside.
The Experience
There are some plain holes, and others that are just plain long. Get your par on the fifth hole, and you'll know you've accomplished something. The signature ninth hole is a gorgeous, downhill, 470-yard par-4 crossed by Emigration Creek. Nail the drive and you'll have a reasonably easy second shot. Otherwise, you'll have a downhill lie, and the water's in play. The course features a fair amount of elevation change.

It's a course that's diverse, tight, challenging, and it has a great view of the valley

Bonneville just can't be beat -- it's cheap, a fun course and so close to downtown. But, that's exactly why it's packed. Unless you have a reservation, don't even think of heading up here on the weekend. But on a weekday morning, it's perfect -- so blow off work and grab a quick nine (or, better yet, 18).
Pros: Great location
Cons: Way too crowded
