Tips for The Royal Scotsman at Pinecrest

Nice setting. My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Royal Scotsman at Pinecrest. It was a beautiful setting and the management was very kind. They struck a perfect balance of being helpful without really being noticed. It almost felt like it was our place. With our reception package they cleared out the hotel that night and we had the whole place to ourselves - we could stay in any room we wanted. I don't know if they still offer this situation or not, but it was great. We had the reception, everyone went home (even the hotel owners - I mean we really had the place to ourselves) and then went to bed. We woke to home-made breakfast (the owners came up early to prepare it for us), packed up and drove to the airport for our honeymoon. It was great. I would recommend this situation to anyone.

The main house is wonderful.

Bagpipes tucked within the wooded hills of Emigration Canyon.. The Scene
The original 1914 inn was a 75-room lodge frequented by the elite, including Errol Flynn and Marilyn Monroe. This setting of fabled parties and trysts burnt to the ground in the 1950s, and a new luxurious phoenix rose three miles from the site, eager to take over where its predecessor had left off. The six-acre estate features formal gardens, a stream and trout pond, seven suites and one guesthouse.

The Details
The 1930s iron entrance gates came from the Paramount Studios in Hollywood; inside, the elegant decor showcases family heirlooms, antique bagpipes and kilts and tartans from Scotland. The Scottish theme may seem a bit over-the-top, but this place is actually quite soothing. Guest rooms are adorned with dark wood furnishings, pillow-top mattresses and Egyptian cotton linens. They also boast fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs, and some even have TVs.

Tara it ain't!!. My husband and I spent our first anniversary at the Pinecrest. We stayed in the cabin up the hill. There was no stair rail up the stairs. We had to hang onto the wall to keep from tumbling (and we're not even old). The fireplace (Darth Vadar lookalike) had much too small a vent and filled the entire house with smoke. The breakfast was frozen pancakes and coffee. GIVE ME A BREAK! I liked Phil however...very jovial person, but will NOT return.
