Editorial Review for Bombay House--Salt Lake – by Robyn Galbos

The Scene
Tucked away in Lamplighter Square next to a liquor store, this seems an unlikely place to find savory Indian cuisine in an elegant atmosphere. Prickly scents of curries and spices permeate the air and whet the appetite. Pillowy fabric hangs from the ceiling, while murals and paintings decorate the walls. A large aquarium with exotic fish stands near the entrance. There are comfortable booths for intimate diners as well as tables for larger groups.

The Food
Vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections with complex flavors and textures make up the menu. Try the chicken, lamb or shrimp saag, the sauce made with spinach, cream, garlic and spices, or the vegetarian version, saag paneer. Aloo mattar--potatoes, green peas and tomatoes in a mildly spiced sauce--is another must-have. Curry dishes are popular choices, and there are several rice specialties and a variety of Indian breads for sopping up the precious sauces.

We have eaten here many times--even with our kids, and while it isn't a 'kid' restaurant the servers have always been wonderful about helping us with the little ones. The food is wonderful, the CTM is one of my favorites anywhere, but the lamb dishes are just fastastic. The setting is beautiful and we always enjoy ourselves when we go.

Pros: Service, ambience, food

Cons: weird location

What a great place to come eat! I've only tried Indian Cuisine a couple of times but this is the best Indian food that I've eaten. The service was great, we were able to take our time. I will continue come back and will recommend it to everyone

Zesty Indian cuisine in an atmosphere that rises above its strip-mall location.  See the full editorial review.
