Great food in a relaxed atmosphere

I have eaten at Cancun Cafe a few times in the past several months and the food is always delicious! The shrimp fajitas, the fish tacos, the cheese enchiladas - awesome! I enjoyed it so much I had them cater an event for 50 people and it was wonderful.
- Pros: great food, reasonable prices
- Cons: none
Terrible Experience!

I will never go back to this restaurant! It's sad because this used to be one of my favorites & is right around the corner from my house, but the last two times my husband & I have been there have been catastrophies. The first bad experience was with a server adding a 20% tip to our credit card bill AFTER we left a cash tip on the table. Luckily, our bank reversed the charges. This past Friday night, the service was so horrible, we ended up walking out. It took forever to get the food, & then my husband's entree came out, but mine never did. No one came to check on us even though we kept trying to get the server's attention. When my husband complained to the manager, he blamed it on a server calling in sick & that our server was actually a cook that came out from the back to help out. No excuses. Plus, the food had seemed to decline over the past several months. Stay away!
- Pros: Good guacamole & alcohol menu
- Cons: Service!
They have gone downhill!

Although we recommended Cancun to many friends and acquaintances over the years, we've noticed a trend toward lower quality food. Last night I paid $15 for three cheese enchiladas and one chicken enchilada. They were small and flat! Hardly any cheese or chicken. It was a take-out order, so our refried beans were in very small cups...and very runny. It was like bean baby food.
I decided while waiting for my order to add chips and salsa. Even though they're complimentary for dine-in customers, they are extra for take-out customers; why is this? Styrofoam containers are dirt cheap. I paid an extra $2.15 for a good amount of chips, but only one small cup of salsa which was about enough for a handful of chips.
All in all, last night's dinner pushed Cancun Cafe to the bottom of our Mexican food list...even Taco Bell is better.
- Pros: You can always get a table
- Cons: Lack of value; food not even good at half the cost
