Editorial Review for Restaurant Morelia – by Geoff Guilford
The Scene
Affordable Mexican food in a former pancake house. While this is not a fast-food restaurant, takeout orders are gladly accepted.
The Food
This restaurant has a menu of about average size, offering most of the favorite items that one might expect, including fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, tacos, and chimichangas. House specialties at Morelia include chalupa, the El Super Burrito, and chile verde. Other options here include tritas rancheras, chile relleno, flautas, and taquitos. There is a small children's menu and a number of combination plates, including one called Larry Miller's favorite--perfect for those seeking a bargain. Flan, sopapillas, and churros are available for dessert as well as true margaritas and pina coladas, upon request. A very inexpensive lunch menu is also in place at Morelia.

Taco Bell was across the street and throughout the meal I couldn't help but think how lucky all the people were that were walking into Taco Bell. Restaurant is in what looks like an old IHOP. Food tastes like it was out of a can! Who uses beets for garnish?!!!
Pros: Good service
Cons: Terrible Food!! Beets and Mexican food????

I have been going to Restaurant Morelia for years. It continues to be my favorite for homestyle (like my mom's cooking) Mexican food. I love that it is always served up hot. The servers are always polite. They don't change servers very often so they must be great to work for. I don't care what color or age they are, it's the service that counts. The cooks are always the same, so the food is always consistent. My favorites are chile rellenos, chile verde burritos, rice and beans. My kids love it too. They are actually one of the few restaurants that don't load cheese on top of their food. Of course, there are a few dishes that have the obligatory cheese. Oh, and save room for some flan! It is so good.
Pros: Good food, prices, service
Cons: Sometimes parking is bad.
