It saddened me to read this review on bloat. I have been bringing my dogs to Dogmode for the past nine years and can say with total confidence that it is the best daycare/boarding facility in the state and possibly even in the country. It is important that everyone knows a little bit about bloat.
#1 it can happen anywhere! It can easily happen while your dog is at home, on a camping trip, or at a kennel. Bloat takes the lives of over 50% of its victims and is in no way the fault of a human.
The technical name for bloat is "Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus" ("GDV"). Bloating of the stomach is often related to swallowed air (although food and fluid can also be present). It usually happens when there's an abnormal accumulation of air, fluid, and/or foam in the stomach ("gastric dilatation"). Stress can be a significant contributing factor also. Bloat can occur with or without "volvulus" (twisting). As the stomach swells, it may rotate 90° to 360°, twisting between its fixed attachments at the esophagus (food tube) and at the duodenum (the upper intestine). The twisting stomach traps air, food, and water in the stomach. The bloated stomach obstructs veins in the abdomen, leading to low blood pressure, shock, and damage to internal organs. The combined effect can quickly kill a dog
After bloat is detected you have less than an hour to get to a vet to have surgery started. Most dog owners are unfamiliar with bloat and in most cases do not get them to the vet in time for a successful surgery.
In this case Dogmode could easily be responsible for saving this dogs life. If the dog was at home when bloat occurred the chance of survival goes down drastically. Like I said Dogmode is THE best in the state. I would never take my dogs anywhere else. The friendly staff at Dogmode treats their customers as well as their furry babies like family. Keep up the great work Dogmode!!
not what it seems – they dont train their staff well enough. my dog boarded there a couple times and one of the times she got bloat. if you dont know what bloat is please google it because it is one of main killers in dogs. i will never go there again.
